It was a cutscene. He said it used in-game assets. People splitting hairs there.
when people say "CG" they're usually talking about something that was pre-rendered

It may have been rendered in-engine but that's not what you can expect from the actual game. It's a scene where the system was entirely focused on just rendering that scene and nothing else. It may have not been rendered by hardware more powerful than the system but it was rendered in a way that it's not reflective of what you'll be playing when you're engaging in actual gameplay and the system has to do more than just purely focus on rendering something you can't interact with.

It is effectively not much different than CG.

I guess rendering 30 frames per second is effectively not much different than taking several hours to render one frame :comeon:

It isn't interactive. It's basically amounts to a video rendered with jazzed up in game assets because all the computer has to worry about is rendering the file in the best quality possible for it. You make it interactive and the computer has to do other things so it can't render it at the same quality.

We've simply reached the point where devs don't feel the need to render such things on super computers because the systems can make it look good enough.
