i said in my post i wasn't cool with batman killing, period.

but there still exists a distinction between real, grounded violence and make believe cartoon violence. in burton's batman when joker fries that crime boss with his hand buzzer you aren't appalled at the sight of a man being burned alive because it's portrayed in such an agreeable fashion. one moment the guy's face lights up red like a cherry and then the next moment he's a sitting corpse. there's really no emphasis on the savagery or brutality. it's cartoon violence just with heavier implications.

BVS is a completely different beast with it's realer depiction of violence, so seeing batman actually STAB that guy in the chest has much more of an impact.
:whew: No fukks Givin' Batman is no joke. Imagine what a solo Batman with this new Joker as the main villain :lawd:

question: why do the DC movies have to be 'great' to be enjoyed?....i'm seriously asking cause this isnt the first time i've heard someone say this....

ex: co-worker of mine saw the movie, when i asked him what he thought, he said and i quote 'it was good and i would tell others to see it, but since it wasnt great, i felt it was just ehh, ok'....so, even though he thought the movie was good and would recommend it to others, since he didnt think it was 'great', it went from good to just 'ehh, ok'?....

that's what i dont understand....it seems if the movie isnt 'great', nothing else matters and people wanna bash it, just look in this thread...some people really gave the movie 6-7 (which is considered good, at least a lil above avg, on a 10 scale), but they still bashed it like it was one of the worst movies they've ever seen and say shyt like 'it was ok....wasnt that bad....below avg'....that doesnt make sense to me....how is a 6-7 'below avg'? lol.....

as fans we shouldn't demand higher quality films? i don't really understand what you're implying.

if i got dragged to a movie by a girl or a friend and it just turned out to be 'okay', i'm not gonna be too upset because chances are its a movie i didn't care much about to begin with. but the fans, a.k.a. the people on this forum and all around the internet, eagerly look forward to these movies from the moment they are announced and thus our expectations become that much higher. we WANT movies that are going to be great so that we can experience them again and again and again. winter soldier might only be 2.5 hours but it's provided wayyy more than that because of the time spent revisiting it.

no one wants to wait 2 years for a movie only for it to amount to a 2 hour experience. that's suicide squad, a decent time at the theater but a movie i couldn't care less if i ever saw again.

Batman cameo in Deadshot's intro :gladbron:

Joker cameo in Harley Quinn's intro and then Batman shows up again :gladbron::gladbron:

during these sequences all i can think about was why didn't we just get a batman movie.

i appreciate the world building but let's be honest there's nothing happening in gotham city that's more interesting than batman and his adventures.

those scenes were exhilarating for me. love love loved them. and this is coming from someone that hated affleck in BVS, but i thought his batman was A LOT better here.

where did i imply that we shouldnt demand quality films?...what i asked was why do the DC movies have to be 'great' to be enjoyed, and the same standard isnt applied to all comic book movies...how even if the movie isnt 'great' but it's good, it still gets killed, like the example i gave...

it seems DC movies are being judged under a different set of rules in comparison to other comic movies....i say that cause shyt DC movies are getting drug through the mud for, other movies get a pass/it's forgiven...even @Ebonic Plague suggested/notices the same thing...hell, even you just said the same thing: that DC movies must be great/have replay value, if they dont/arent, then that means they arent even good....when did that become the standard? and how come other movies dont get held to that same standard?....

as for you naming winter soldier...i like winter soldier, it's one of marvel's better movies...but it's only 1 outta what 13 movies....now, we both know the other 12 movies arent on the same level of WS, but the ones that arent didnt get killed the way the 3 movies for DC have so far, even though they have some of the same issues people point out for the DC movies, i.e. pacing, weak story/plot/villain, etc....people werent killing them post after post, tracking how they did in the box office from day to day, etc. like they are the DC movies...seriously, people are really using the money made from thurs & fri combined in comparison to sat, and using that as an indicator of the quality of the movie...when have you ever seen that before for a movie? the only other time i saw that was with BvS when they started reported about box office totals from countries no one has ever cared about....

There's still a ton of cities and characters we havent seen yet... The DCU needs to grow. :francis:

exactly....DC is more than batman...what's sad about people asking for batman all the time: those same people will turn around and complain about it only being batman if that's all WB/DC gave us....

it's not a DC films thing. MOS and BVS were legitimate dumpster fires that the majority of impartial adult movie going critics were going to hate.

as for suicide squad i'm a bit surprised myself, but at the same time i'm not gonna sit here and make excuses for them because from a certain point of a view this movie can also be seen as a huge mess. yes there are mediocre and forgettable marvel films but i would hesitate to label any of them a huge mess.

nothing you said addressed why it seems there are 2 different standards the movies must meet...which again you implied there is.....why are you so hesitant to say the forgettable and/or mediocre marvel movies arent a mess, but you're quick to do it for the 3 DC movies so far?....why dont you judge the movies the same?...that's all i was asking originally...

i truly don't think there is a single movie in the marvel studios lineup that is as bad as MOS or BVS. :yeshrug:

as for suicide squad, if i wasn't already a fan of these characters and these concepts, and i was just an average movie goer who wasn't knowledgeable about harley or her past with the joker... i might have hated the movie too. :yeshrug:

which is why im actuallly happy WB/DC decided to go leg out with SS in thi universe early, expanded the roster quick which is good for interactions in te future movies..

something i find silly in the MCU where no one interacts that much like they're not all around :patrice:

you still havent addressed why the difference in judging....you say there are no movies as bad as mos/bvs, ok...taking them out, why wont you label the movies that are equal to ss a mess, like you did ss?...you said there are mediocre and forgettable marvel movies like ss, but you still wont drag them through the mud like ss, why is that?....

So Thor and Thor 2 are better than MoS? No way bruh. Action alone Mos shyts on Thor , Antman, iron man 2 :scust: iron man 2 is one of the worst movies of the entire marvel universe, almost green lantern levels. It is not better than Mos neither is Ironman 3 , that shyt was mediocre as hell. MoS action pieces alone shyt on those films.

Definitely a bias. I can't take anyone serious who thinks iron man 2 is better than mos.

i say suicide squad is a mess because its problems are structural. the very foundation upon which the film is built is broken.

thor 1 was a very mediocre movie but its still built on a solid foundation, it just never rises to the occasion.

would it help if i said iron man 2 was a terrible piece of shyt?
