thats what I said. I said they basically flipped positions thats why thread it overwhelming in fav of Styles. Banks has experienced more commercial success from his early career, but then he was still doing mixtapes when nikkas was on the retail/dsp game and Styles been dropping like 5 retail projects per year for years while Banks aint dropped shyt retail since when??? its a perception thing. Styles definitely more popular than Banks now and in the past 10 years....the only thing is the G-Unit brand is still so large. thread is more about perception of said careers.

I don’t think Styles is more popular than Banks. They might be equally the same. Both had way more success in their groups though. Just the core fans check for their solo stuff. That’s basically with all fans who check for their music.

Californ-i-a by way of BK
Styles hard. but still basic. Banks is nuts. especially AON series and Element of Surprise joint off Conflicted. Flow and lyrics is dumb. He aint been on that punchline shyt for years. I still prefer Jada and Sheek over Styles lyrically. I just think its how masterful Styles is at putting projects together it has people overrating him lyrically. Like his energy and aggression shyt on East on Beloved...and its not like East wasnt trying. I mean people saying Styles better than Jada, people putting him in their top 10-15 and LYRICALLY, I dont see it...but on the other hand if you look at his consistency and body of work as an artist..yes, he is right there.
I hear you. I think as I've gotten older my definition of lyricism has changed a lot. I feel Banks is superior when it comes to verbal gymnastics as far as rhyme patterns and matching syllables.

But what they're actually saying to me, more than how you're saying, defines lyricism nowadays to me. Not saying Banks doesn't say shyt, but I feel what Styles says sticks to me more, and can be real teachable points and just more potent. When I listen to Banks I'm more impressed by his ability to be technical than what he's actually saying.

Styles isn’t basic. How can u listen to shyt like Nobody Believes Me and feel that way?

thats just going to have to be my opinion that I stand on. I love Styles P. he gets outshined on a LOT of tracks too. not so much on his own shyt...he too smart for that, lol. when on songs with LOX, high caliber lyricists like Thought and Monch you know what it is, even more recent...he spit but still couldnt get with Uncle Murda and Conway on He Did That shyt

the G-Unit brand makes Banks more popular only. hell, Buck and Kidd Kidd still living off that name with some level of popularity. Murda even capitalizing. if Banks were active in the past 5 years he'd be twice as popular as he is now. if he wasnt doing the occasional show, I imagine most wouldve thought he retired.

this is a good point because when Styles is on his positive shyt thats where he shines. a lot of his other stuff, just the avg gunplay, drug talk, etc....avg.

either way, I voted for Banks and expect the new album to be great. Styles definitely on another level as far as releasing projects. but thats not just over Banks but the majority of rappers from their era....thats why I said it can be skewed because the disparity is so wide as far as retail releases. Banks been trying to find himself amidst all the G-Unit fallout and 50 fukkery while Styles been on a steady consistent musical path that even his LOX cohorts cant keep up with.
