No one is held more accountable than the NY Knicks.

I don't feel that's the only reason the team lost and the poster you quoted didnt say that either. You said that. You throw out opinions and pretend they're facts. There were a number of reasons NY lost. 1, being our 2 top guns shooting percentages were down. 2, we were defensively challenged which I pointed out. 3, we got out-coached which 23Stat already pointed out. You said fukk all that, I wanna pretend someone said something about missing shots we normally make.

All you ever hear Melo say after a loss is "well I missed shots I usually make" no shyt buddy...

Some of y'all mke me sick. We finally got a superstar like player in Melo, and cats want him to walk if his price is to high??? IMO, Melo is a max contract type player. Question, who are we going to get if Melo bolts. And don't give me that let's get a bunch of really good role players, that formula doesn't work.

Knicks fans by and large don't know what they want.

They want superstars yet they want their team to play and be like Oakley /Mason/Starks etc. It's like Knicks fans want the perfect spectacularly talented goon.

typical caller: I want Melo gone. He's selfish. we'd be better off with Gallinari and Chandler and some more role players. THAT'S what we need. We need more blue collar grind it out players! Can't just win with one guy!

typical caller 2 years later: we need to package Gallinari, Chandler, and these role players for a superstar. This isn't working. We NEED that superstar to get us over the top! This goon basketball isn't getting us past these other superstars. Sometimes it may take just one guy!

Ok ? He says other too but that was his reason for playing bad . Like I said he was missing transition 3s and open midrange jumpers too as part of his struggles .do you want him to pull a chandler and say he was good and blame the team ? Melo takes responsibility and doesn't cop out like that hell so did jr and Woodson only chandler passed the buck
Why do you care ?? He's a max player and if that's his max he's earned it. John wall got like 90 mil and has really accomplished nothing so really Melo a scoring champ and MVP candidate should get what he wants . But anyway he hasn't signed the contract yet so how about you let the year play out first . And also offer solutions to who you want to replace the top 5 player

That's easy. In a perfect world I'd love for Dolan to take a backseat, use whatever resources he has to find the best Basketball Operations/GM out there, pay him whatever he wants and give him full control over the team for 5 years. What'd you most likely see is the dumping of bad contracts, no more short sighted trades and ultimately building through the draft. If the time comes where you can sign a big named FA, obviously go for it. Melo at 30 isnt a max player. Let him tie up someone elses cap at 33 years old. The Knicks are not winning a title this year or next year with Carmelo Anthony, that's reality.

With the new CBA there's way more incentive for big names to stay with their current teams. You NEED to find your franchise player via the draft, and in order to do that you need draft picks. The Knicks dont have any.

Build for the future now. Lebron is human too, he's going to age. I'd rather have a leg up in the process rather than banking on Carmelo over the next 5 seasons.

No one can argue the Knicks have been run well since Dolan took over in 2000.

Exactly. We finally got our first star since Ewing (even thoug I would call Marbury a star when he got here) and people are scoffing at overpaying. This is NY, we are used to overpaying star players (look at the Yanks). Again that role player comittee doesn't work in the long run.

All this Melo talk is giving me a headache and the damn season hasn't even started yet :snoop:

The problem is Melo isn't bron . So he's judged by him sometimes to a unfair degree I mean if bron is a all time great that's a rare player . we know a team of role players and good guys aren't winning a ring the best way for the Knicks to proceed is resign Melo , sign a rondo type player next season (2015) hope shump and /or thjr develop , chandler comes up medium at least in the playoffs . But the key is Melo we all saw how horrible the offense was without Melo whenever jr struggled yet they act like he's so easily replaceable and that kd or cp3 are coming through the door . Whatever people think of Melo he seems to be the player that bron has the most trouble with , we need a team That is good enough to give Melo a chance to pull a dirk and slay the dragon we have pieces just need them to work

So it's okay to give a max contract to a player who missed majority of last season & hasn't proven anything in the league? Some of you would make some great gms. :heh:
I know lol . It's comical with how underrated Melo is by his own fans .
John Wall is only 23 and The Wizards decided to designate him as their franchise player. It's not the same situation.
So what does his age matter ? He's always injured and hasn't lead a team anywhere . That's a much bigger gamble then paying mr in the playoffs every year a max deal ! He's our franchise player and a top 5 player we have no possible way of replacing him

If Melo bolts, you have to go full out in tank mode, get as much draft picks as you can.

With that said, you can't blame Dolan for pushing for that Melo trade. That team was at best a 2nd round team w/ Gallo and Mozgov. The Knicks prepped their fans for getting Bron since Dolan took over, and moves had to be made in response of that loss. If Melo hit FA, he could of possibly signed with the Nets in the 2011 summer (sure they were still in Jersey, but Amare got injured in the 2011 Celtics series, and the Nets just got Deron). So if we play hindsight game, Melo might not even be a Knick as we speak, and likely in BK.

We had typical Knicks luck in that the lock out was coming and so no one knew how the new CBA would turn out . Melo looked out for himself in a bad situation , it was a convergence of events coming together to mess with the Knicks
