Naw, not possibly. I'm only dealing in reality. That's why I said championship as I knew someone would try to bring up OKC. (You blew me with that Indiana tho. :whoo: Drink much kool-aid? )They haven't won shyt and they didn't let the core of the team that made it to the finals stick together. And Russy is hurt. But mainly...they haven't won shyt. Which is what I asked.
2007 Spurs. Ok yes, they drafted Tim Duncan after tanking the previous year before he came. They got lucky that no. 37 pick Manu turned into something. Tony Parker was a low 1st rounder who they were prepared to throw in the bushes if JKidd didn't resign with the Nets at the time. As we all know they panned out but only TD was expected to be anything. Now I ask you....who else on that roster did they DRAFT that was of any significance??

True
But at the same token, how many teams have won with just one franchise player in the past 15 years? You have Dallas and Detroit, and who else? The point is, the best shot of winning is through the draft, and get stars through trades. Sure it requires luck getting a Kobe or Pierce through the draft, but you hope to get them, then go out and get second options (Pau for the Lakers, KG/Allen for Celtics) through trades and sometimes FA.

The new CBA gives way more incentive for draft picks to stay with their respective teams for their second contract.

Who's in a better spot right now, the Pacers or Knicks?
It depends on how highly you think of Paul George, because not only do they not have flexibility, they won't spend the luxury tax, for all intents and purposes, this is their squad moving forward.

Yeah but it's a lot of risk . You can't get rid of a known quantity in Melo who could get hot in a series and lead you to ring to try and stockpile draft picks .

Hey, New York!, How are ya :obama:
Washington Wizkid representative here, just wanted to let you guys know that its best if you skip watching this game
Unless of course you wanna see a real team outclass and dominate a Knicks squad that, for real :aicmon:
Lets be honest, nobody expects you guys to get out of the first round. 2nd rd max potential
And Melo already talkin bout opting out :heh:

Bradley Beal bout to show you nikkaz how a real star does it :salute:

My nikka Johnny Wallbanger gonna run past your entire squad cuz Fast don't like :manny:

Put that Coli cash up right now, $2,000 maximum. I'll take on the first 5 who accept before tip-off

How is that the best shot and you basically admit the draft is a crap shoot? The only way to build a championship team is thru Luck, Talent, & Good Coaching. How you get there is how you get there via draft, trades, or free agency. Recent champions:

Miami (built entirely thru free agency)
Dallas (Free agent signings to go around Dirk like Tyson and Kidd. I don't recall how Jet got there. but it wasnt thru the draft)
LA (Trades & free agency pick ups to complement Kobe)
Boston (Trades)

Come on man....

That's very true . Unless the Knicks can get wiggins ( And he's the next big thing actually ) we could wind up getting a high pick in a shytty year and bam back to square one . None of us know what the future holds , Melo can rip his shoulder more , dwade could need surgery during the year and miss a lot of time, rose could get hurt again etc .
I give you a lot of respect for acknowledging that Paul George May never be a superstar

Draft picks =flexibility. They have those.

And George is a very good player. He's 23 years old.

But the one thing all those teams have in common is that star, homegrown talent that grew with the franchise and the team built the team around them from day 1 until they got the chip. . wade, pierce, kobe, dirk . Knicks dont have that guy.
