Dialog options
Don’t be mad at us because Power Wash simulator doesn’t have dialog options. Just get Bg3 on steam. It will find itself on Xbox sooner or later.

That’s always been bethesda style RPGs. But no one would claim that all RPGs need to strive to be as big as a bethesda game. And thats why they are what they are. Bethesda has been bragging about how many lines of dialogue it has recorded for starfield for two years now lol
Its no coincidence the game yall are most excited for is promising to be a big ass rpg game

It’s right in the title of your thread. Some games are viewed as “rockstar level” excess and those game are know to be anomalies. What?
People have literally been comparing and measuring every open world game and/or rpg to Skyrim for over the past 12 years
And stuff like the Witcher 3 ended up actually surpassing it, so the industry was better off for it
But that’s stupid.
Games don’t need hundreds of hours of dialog/story content to be good.
All that leads to is higher and higher budgets. Devs should be trying to innovate and create in their own ways instead of spending more and more money on content.

They are multiple decades long events from inception to people playing and modding the game for years.
Every game doesn’t need to be a 20 year event. That would be terrible for the industry if that’s the “standard”
Again people LOVE spider-man and it’s nowhere near the size/scope of GTA. Insomniac didn’t, and shouldn’t have approached their game thinking “how can we beat GTA in size/scope”
They just set out to make a good spider-man game.
Spider-man probably wouldn’t be half the game it is if GTA didn’t exists.
Same as most open world RPG’s, Skyrim raised the bar and every game after that has been trying to/or has used it as a baseline. Now BG3 is becoming the baseline
The bolded is pure facts. A game doesn't need to be 100+ hours, or have crazy dialogue, or highly intricate gameplay systems to be good. Ultimately, it just needs to be a fun experience.
That can come from a game that's got about all the depth of Tecmo Super Bowl, or something like this or Red Dead Redemption 2.
What fukks me up is that a lot of the people who are going way too hard with demanding that every developer do what Larian did with this game (despite the fact that that would likely cheapen their accomplishment) stays with this tweet on deck to throw in someone's face when reports of rough or strenuous development get out for other games.
If GTA is the “standard” then spider-man failed profusely
It hit the trifecta of hype.
Gay bear sex.
Sony stan’s adopting the game to stan
PC nerds happy one of their games finally went mainstream
Open world action games.GTA and Spider-Man aren’t even the same genre
