new era been around since the 1920's, and they made all black dodger hats back then in the 80s also
i know New Era been around.

They didnt put their logos on their hats back then.

And fitteds were not out on the streets back then.

I never saw alternative colorways for hats until the late 90s. If Im wrong, im wrong. I will eat that, but snapbacks is what was popular and what worn in that era.

It kind of bugged me too, even though it's really no big deal. I don't remember any special color New Era caps back then either. Cube also had a black Dodgers cap with a black logo.

Looking at old pics of NWA, they basically just wore Raiders, Kings, "N.W.A", and "Compton" caps. When they wore Dodgers caps, it was always blue:
