It is weak as fukk for Kaepernick to not vote. I get that he didn't like either one of the two but dude didn't even vote in local elections? :francis:

I respect everything he did with the anthem but sitting out the vote completely doesn't help things.
But what is he suppose to do when he sees 2 parties that haven't/won't help AAs? implementing the (broken) system no one is ever going to fix. Do you think those problems only stem from the person on top of the ticket? It's rot through the whole party that includes all the way down the ballot.

Stephen A sounds like he was just looking for an excuse to go in, colin not voting shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that's been focusing on this when he openly stated months ago what both parties represent and that each candidate are just fighting to prove which one is less racist. Does that sound like someone who would suddenly vote? If he pulled a Brandon Marshall we'd say he's a hypocrite

I agree 100% with Stephen A Smith.
When I first heard Kaep was not voting I was completely shocked :jbhmm:

I'd rather not hear anything he has to say and if isn't going to put his words into action.

bc there is no in between violent revolt and shelving off all of your political influence to a man/woman who can literally do anything they want while getting paid by your tax money and who ever else is paying them off.

yall crazy. if its me, if a company/millionaire wants the vote/legislature to go a certain way they can pay me directly. right now the politician is just the middle man between your freedom to choose and a company's intention and getting paid to do so.

This ain't hard to understand. Colin already said the system broken on both fronts. Why would he participate in an act supporting the system he believes oppresses people of color? To him voting is acknowledging the system works. Which he believes it doesn't.

All of it. Even the other items on the ballot. It's part of the exact system he believes oppressed people.

mofos like nick saban get a pass for not voting but c00n ass sas wanna call out Colin instead:mjpls: everyone know sas suck Bama dikk

Why do y'all keep saying this shyt about 2 parties? Millions of Americans despised BOTH candidates and either wrote in a candidate or went with the Green Party or Libertarian Party candidate. Also, your ballot consists of other people to vote for on a state & local government level as well as votes on tax allocation, transportation and other civic issues. Please tell me y'all aren't dumb enough to believe you go to the polls just to vote for the President

As much as I disagree with Stephen A, he was absolutely right to go in on Colin. He's a hypocrite now...if you're going to be about this social justice life you gotta be all the way about it

A non vote can be just as impactful as vote.

The idea that everybody HAS to vote is not freedom or democracy.

But Colin says the whole system fukked up. Not just presidential election, the whole system. Local/state, don't matter. Him participating in the voting to him is acknowledging the system works, which to him it does not. Easy to understand his view imo.

The idea that everybody HAS to vote is not freedom or democracy.

Non votes is what just got Trump elected so that type of narcissism unfortunately can be impactful

And the point isn't about everybody, this is specifically about one person (Kaep) who started a movement that people rallied to and supported but isn't exercising his rights to change the system he's fighting against. I'm a fan of what Kaep did and supported him for that but now he looks like a hypocrite because he's not willing to do his civic duty to fight for change.

The system is flawed, I would agree. I think most people would agree. But that doesn't mean you completely abandon it. It is still the system for how this country operates and to change things you have to use the system to your advantage. What he said is a cop out, I don't respect him saying the system isn't working so instead of trying to change it I'm just not gonna try. That's bullshyt

Again though he's sayin the system fukked up. He's not participating in systematic political elections because he feels it's all bullshyt. To me it seems like hed rather create change and awareness by actions and being vocal/active in his communities. He doesn't believe changing the system can be done by being in the system. He feels like it's all geared to oppress so why participate?

First this isn't true. Hillary got more votes tallied in her name than any Prsidential candidate ever.

Second from Colin's standpoint a trump win was no different than a Hillary win.

Colin's protest has done more to afford change than a vote would have.

Voting is not the only or even the best way to fight for social change.

If his protest was that America doesn't care about black people and other marginalized groups, and he felt like Hilary is part of that problem. Then why the hell would he go vote for her?
