Because xbox isn’t
Nintendo or SIE and don’t produce games on that level. That was understood the moment they decided they needed to start the service in the first place.
Gamepass was formed from their inability to sell games. This was an alternative to that, it was a bandaid, a long with all the acquisitions. There was never a real plan for it
You argue that such a service could never work because people don't play games like that. Then you openly admit that there was a content issue on Microsoft's end and they didn't have desirable content.
Which is it? Subscriptions fail because gamers don't want them or Game Pass content is mediocre. Meanwhile Sony openly admits in a roundabout way people prefer subscription services by saying they can't bring their games to them day 1 because people would choose that route over paying $70 for them at rates damaging to them.
So no it's not that people aren't interested in a service with content they'd actually want it's that the companies that make the content wouldn't create such a product.
If that were true a 3rd of ps plus users wouldn’t be subscribed to higher tiers
Sony reveals the total number of PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, confirming that a surprising number of users upgraded to these tiers.

I can math. about 14 million subs on the higher tiers (which what even is your argument there? They're in it just for the games maybe?) is less than Game Pass total subs. Microsoft when they last gave numbers weren't lumping in Xbox Live Gold subs with Game Pass subs.
Sony and Nintendo don't have pure subscription services that don't also blend totally into their online multiplayer strategy. Microsoft had a Game sub service and an online multiplayer subscription totally separate. So again with the lies.
