I think a lot of fans had the same mind thought. That's probably one reason that TPM was the highest grossing film of 99. Everyone went back for repeat viewing to see if it was terrible.

Still Looks like there’ll be no explanation of what happened to the republic between VI and VII. makes the middle trilogy completely pointless.
They couldn’t even do nostalgia/fan service right (not having the big three characters together for one single scene)

What’s crazy is they didn’t even need to bring Palpatine back. We never got a backstory or explanation for Snoke. If he was meant to be more important then just give him an backstory for how he survived getting cut in half. Maul survived.

Also it’s going to be interesting to compare Watchmen and ROS.

Both are set within a beloved world but progresses years forward with new female heroes but brings back old favorites and threats.

Plus Lindelof and Abrams helming each.

I was never a big Star Wars stan but I’m still in disbelief at this trilogy and just what happened to get it and the franchise to this point. Like this is the state of fukking Star Wars in 2019 it’s become almost a joke at this point, TLJ torpedoed things so badly it seems irreparable.

I feel like TLJ was on a bad footing by not explaining how the First Order formed. A lot of that movie seemed based on the size of the threat from the First Order and the dark side with Kylo. Neither of which we really saw with any context.

It makes all the previous films pointless, what was the point of Anakin or Luke if they didn’t even really end the regime of Sheev? The whole chosen one thing becomes irrelevant, this whole trilogy has shat all over Lucas legacy and what he created. Also watch how they ignore that hyperspace kamakaze move in this movie despite it been approved by the c*nts that run Lucas film. Now they will just pretend it never happened, how anyone can back this shyt is beyond me.

The fact that the official trailers revealed that Palpatine is alive shows how desperate they are. If all was well, they would have keep this a secret for a big plot twist, revealed, subvert expectation etc etc however you want to worded it.

Everyone knew that at D23 when showed up on stage for the star wars segment... they needed to at least try to bring back the die hard fans... Since RJ ran them off...

Dave Filoni and John Favaeru are behind this I’m confident it’ll be good. Filoni should be in charge of Star Wars creatively dude is Lucas’s protege. He’s been behind some of the best of Star Wars in recent years (Clone Wars, Rebels, Resistance)
