Making Star Wars is one of the most reliable sources out there for
Star Wars rumours, and the site has now shared some very interesting intel about
The Rise of Skywalker. There are some major spoilers here, so, assuming these are accurate, you may not want to read any further!
Still with us? Well, according to the site, the returning Palpatine wants Kylo Ren and Rey to rule over the Galaxy as the Emperor and Empress of his new Empire.
Palpatine refers to them as the "Dyad," which is a reference to the positive and negative sides of the Force and a union that will rejuvenate him (it sounds like that's his plan from the start, and he may only be using them so he can return to power). When he is finally restored, the site claims that there will be a blast of Force lightning that's so big, it brings down a Resistance ship.
It sounds like The First Order have no idea that The Emperor survived the events of
Return of the Jedi, and the site's sources tell them that they know nothing about Matt Smith being in the film. However, perhaps the biggest reveal relates to what happens at the end of the movie.
It's said that
The Rise of Skywalker concludes with Rey visiting the Lars homestead, and when a local tells her that they haven't seen anyone near that place for a long time and asks her name, she responds: "Rey, Rey Skywalker."
This is obviously just a rumour, but the site in question has provided plenty of reliable information in the past, so there's no reason to doubt these claims. Reshoots are currently taking place, though, so who knows how much of this will change or whether these leaks are an attempt to misdirect fans on the part of Lucasfilm.
