Producer aren't directors. When you've got Spielberg handling everything, you don't have to do any real work. All she had to do was secure financing throughout the projects. The SW franchise is the first time she's actually had to show and prove.

I love Star Wars OG, and I gave this every chance in thinking VII was really good and VIII, well it wasn’t close to ESB but there will be a payoff.... this was dogsh1t, pure Disneyfied dogsh1t... plot made no sense, even within a single movie frame not just relating to last 2 films..... no coherency, no value from a W, and really by middle of this film I was rooting for no characters, I just was apathetic... the ridiculousness and incoherency was too much


I feel if you give this episode VII-IX summary in 3-4 sentences, it would be thought with tons of potential... but the execution over 7.5 hours of film was what I said, pure dogsh1t

While using reddit to co write the film they used quite possibly the worst fan fiction idea, ever...just because. Her being a no one was actually dope. And didnt ruin the mythology of the series.

After marinating on this a bit, Star Wars has an unenviable problem that most franchises dont. It's trying to appease the most opinionated and sometimes toxic fan base with over 40+ years of source material.

I don't care what folks say now, people HATED the prequels. And executing the sequel trilogy was going to be tough. With that being said they botched it. You can't serve two masters. Pick a lane you want to go with and stick with it.

Personally, they should have went with the most popular fanfict and added onto it a bit. As a creative, I get the need to put your own touch on things but when dealing with IP of this magnitude you just gotta go with the flow. It's a large reason why I had NO PROBLEM with TFA. It was fan service, but damn it felt good seeing everyone back on the big screen again. I was so excited to see where they were going with Rey, Snoke, and looking forward to Luke being a fully formed badass.

They fukked it up. Again, similar to Game of Thrones, sometimes as a writer you gotta understand that the material is bigger than you. It's not the time to try and reinvent the wheel. Just stick the fukking landing.
