The Hobbit: Unexpected Journey opened on Dec 14, 2012 and pulled in $84 million in its opening weekend which is the record for a December opening.
TFA will EASILY surpass that total.

Im not talking about the December opening weekend. Im talking about the all time record. Ive seen reports, watched vlogs, etc where people are predictating 250-300 million opening weekend. I think it'll clock in 140-160 million

that's too low an estimate imo.

i'm not saying it will beat avatar, that will depend on how good it is, but the opening weekend when the hype will be at it's fullest should propel this one closer to 200 mil.

and let's really be honest with ourselves, if any movie could reach 300... it's this one.

Co sign. I really don't think the recording breaking pre orders should be seen has gospel to much the film will gross. Of course the star wars geekdom/fandom was gonna come out for this.

And Avatar was also a different beast in that it the film turned into event film (James Cameron, 3D, etc) that everyone had to see in the following weeks that it opened.

EVERYONE is gonna see this movie off top.....it's gonna have the mass appeal just based off the fact that geek is chic now. They push the mainstream wave plus this was THE trilogy of the 80's. Every person born then is taking their kids and their kids' kids to see this movie. It's gonna trend on twitter, facebook, IG, and every other site so people will be flocking to see what the fuss is about. Every movie theatre is gonna have most of their screens dedicated to it. Disney is putting their full powers behind this so it's not just hardcore fans coming......and honestly, after my excitement calmed down I already know I'm not watching it until January because the whole first month of it's release will be a Star Wars convention. It's gonna be the number 1 movie through February at least and every other studio is gonna stay out of the way of it. Avatar's hype was nothing compared to this. People release youtube videos of themselves crying and shyt. Avatar was just about the visuals.

star trek 2009 has a higher rating on rotton tomatoes than Glory, reviews are a joke in this age

those star trek movies are awful, colorful, but awful once again trekkies will support anything star trek and overrate it

there is nothing remotely memorable about any of those two movies
:dahell: WTF??!!! Trekkies hate the J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" movies. Especially the 2nd movie.

Not all of em breh. There's a star trek podcast I listen to and they fukk with the first one...the 2nd one not so much

How do you feel about the 2nd movie?

I've don't think I've ever watched a whole episode of any of the "Star Trek" shows & I've never seen any of the pre-J.J. Abrams movies, but I thought "Star Trek into Darkness" was a GREAT movie & definitely better than the 2009 movie. I'd probably give it 4.5 out 5 stars.

Don't neg me but this trailer didn't get me hype at all. After I watched it I just felt :meh:
I'll still be seeing it opening weekend
I blame it on the prequels cause new hope and empire are 2 of my favorite movies

It's not a particularly great trailer, to be honest. It's mainly focused completely on nostalgia (Which is all it needs to do). It will prove beneficial very soon for most....Abrams is fighting his damndest not to spoil anything...that trailer doesn't even give the plot of the movie away.

We can't have it both ways. Either trailers spoil shyt and we all go ":ooh:....too bad it gives the movie away though" or they keep things hidden and we benefit from not knowing things when the movie comes out.

I think part the problem with the trailer is because it's really just a long teaser trailer. NONE of trailers have told us what this movie is about.

Ahh gotcha so you are talking about Jurrassic World's opening weekend record.

Barring a major weather catastrophe that weekend - this should top JW's weekend total. IMO you have to start the estimates at $250 million. Nothing else will be out at that time and Disney can squeeze theaters into adding more screens than JW had its opening weekend to accomodate the demand.

I don't know why people think its out the realm of possibility that BvsS can and will outdo this new Star Wars movie in terms of box office gross. BvS def. imo appeals to more to a diverse group of people than Star Wars do. I still nikkaz that don't watch this shyt because its the nerdy white movies. Plus, you add in the stench of the prequels, the release date in December, and Stars Wars (the last decade) not being that engraved in pop culture like Batman is. The possibility is really real imo.

:mjlol: Anyone who thinks this doesn't get "Star Wars".

The first one was a true breath of fresh air. I loved that reboot.

Second one wasn't as fresh Becuase they shoehorned Khan into it. Take Khan out, have him be "John Harrison" (maybe a lackey of the real Khan) and nobody complains....
