Thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 episodes, it’s a shame it’s not getting the hype it deserves IMO.
star wars only added "goofy elements" during ROTJ ...
To be fair, this IS pretty goofy
Basically, it's the Muppet Show
Kind of why I didn't like Rogue One overall. Star Wars is space opera. Once you try to be uber real now you have to explain all the other fantastic shyt in the franchise. In the movie when he said something like "I've done horrible things for the rebellion." I busted out laughing. Like they're reallly trying to turn the franchise into Vietnam?I loved Rogue one as it showed the real consequences of the war and focused on the lesser smaller pieces that support the rebellion and empire. Its kinda childish to just think and old powerful emperor just held everybody in check with lightning fingers and a robot enforcer.
The politics and propaganda shown in ep 1-3 bored The casual fans but it layed out how calculated palps is and im sure the show will mirror how our own Govt moves with the imperial senate mostly being puppets and being corrupt with a handful like leia secretfully forming the rebellion.
We need that Palp origin show and Starkiller
actually the core to any star wars is political ,totalitarianism and tyrants. excluding ep 7,8,9 imb
Just a misrepresentation of Star Wars. As mentioned the tone changed in Return of the Jedi but prior to then it had more of a serious demeanor This show is right in line with that. If you think that at its core it’s about goofy aliens then you really miss what it is at its best - a story about many of the things humans deal with, war, family issues, politics good vs evil. etc only set against the backdrop of a fantastical galaxy with magical elements and various alien species. It can embody many different facets and your attempts to pigeonhole the franchise are off the mark.
Edited to add - what were all the goofy aliens in Empire Strikes Back, widely considered the best movie in the franchise? Yoda started out goofy but that was because he was testing Luke and afterwards when his real personality came out he was all business about trying to teach him important life lessons. Most of the aliens in a New Hope were in the Cantina scene and they weren’t depicted as especially goofy.
The films were designed for 12-year-olds. I said that right from the very, very beginning and the very first interviews I did for A New Hope. It’s just that they were so popular with everybody, that everybody forgot that.” He argued that those who were 10 when watching A New Hope had the same expectations for The Phantom Menace. But being in their 30s, they inevitably would have had a different experience
They want the films to be tough, like Terminator, they want to be real guy movies. They get very upset and very opinionated about anything that has anything to do with being childlike—which the movies are for children but they don't want to admit that" — George Lucas, 1999

Talking robots, space wizards, a walking lion and space swords isn't "goofy"?
THIS
Wasn't goofy?

nope.
Dude just unsubscribe to the thread whats the point of discussing some shyt that you think is some funny inferior bullshyt ???
It's not that deep.
No that's older Star Wars fans trying to rationalize why they still watch Star Wars because they feel they shouldn't or are embarrassed to admit they do.
It was never serious and DESIGNED FOR KIDS.
The CREATOR George Lucas has even said this himself ]
And HE even himself CONFIRMED what I'm even saying
@ Star Wars being deep, serious or adult.
Some people just insist on doubling down on being wrong. You didn’t engage with any points made and it’s obvious you’re just responding on some save face shyt. Look it’s ok to say hey I’m casual fan of Star Wars and what I enjoy about it is this element of it. But continuing to pretend like you have any kind of point is tedious.
