:wow:

lot's going on, they just don't spell it out for the viewer.

Luthen is on a journey. One that he cannot reverse.

He’s a villain, that’s what he's been saying to everyone and I don't think the viewers are listening because he is one of the show’s protagonist. That’s what Saw was asking the first time they met. “What are you?” was the first time it comes up. Saw see’s himself as a hero, and the stuff Luthen was saying to him didn't compute. Then when he came back and had to tell him not to help Kreegor and why, Luthen said “I didn't want you to have to make that decision”. The decision is to give up ideals and do the dirt needed to win.

Even though the empire is evil he reminds me of Lex Luther (the name helps) trying to stop superman. Like he’s a genius but he is very aware that he is going against a God, he’s just one of the early nonbelivers. I wouldn't even be surprised if he knew the Emperor was a Sith Lord and he is still out there trying to beat him.

Then with Lonni the spy when Lonni asked “what did he sacrifice”. He says everything that a hero has, love, companions, peace, and decency. He then tell’s Lonni he needs heroes. Basically he needs good people around him to keep him from being much worst. I would not be surprised if we see him do something foul next season that the cost of ruins him in some way. Maybe the Ghorman Massacre that really unites the Rebel Alliance.

With that said I know they took that young punk to play Lex Luther, but Stellan Skarsgård is the closest actor I could think of to take on the role of Gene Hackman. Too bad he’s older (71) so I doubt they recast.

Even though Andor offers himself up at the end, Luthen accepting him just feels like "get down or lay down" energy to me. I'm not sure if Disney will go there but dude lowkey moves like a terrorist and I won't be surprise if next season has him doing grimier stuff for the cause.

Oh yeah I think he would have shot him then and there. He went there to do it himself because he wasn't sure the rest could do it. That's why he likes Andor he trusts him to do the dirty work. Cinta is good for it too but Val consistently is trying to distract her. I kind of inferred that Val knew Luthen first and then introduced him to her cousin, but on the low Cinta might have to take Val out eventually too. She was the liability he kept accusing Andor of being.

Oh you 100% know he’s going to up the ante. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cassian or Vel end up having to be the one to take him down in the end if he goes too far over the line.

Great, great character.

Great show, one of my favorite Star Wars projects ever. The writing of Gilroy is just on another level, and despite those calling it "slow", when the writing and world building is that good I don't mind the slower pace. A show with lesser writing, I would notice the more deliberate pacing but with Andor the writing is so good that that's a feature of its greatness. One example is just the initial conversation between Mon Mothma and Tay. Just three people talking in a room but the writing was so tight I could have watched 10 more minutes of it. I think reception to the show largely centers around whether or not that is a factor to an individual. Of course I love the action/fantasy elements of Star Wars, but I think there is room for it to embody different styles - as long as the writing is as good as it is on Andor. That said, for Season 2 if there is any way it could improve it would be to perhaps incorporate a bit more of the Star Wars tropes - not in a forced way but perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

He knows so much about ancient Force artifacts that he HAS to know that the Empire is being run by the Sith, or at least according to the Sith principles.

I would like to see Luthen’s origin eventually. Maybe he was close to a Jedi or related to one. What happened to him that “the tree won’t forget”. For example he doesn’t come off like an idealist or a rebel without a cause. He comes off as someone with a grudge that won’t go away. Like he said “he shared his dream with Ghosts”. He’s Star Wars “Gus Fring”. So who died to set him on this path of revenge against the empire?

Thought I was the only one. He’s definitely out for revenge at any cost and he for sure isn’t a good guy.

I think it would be piff for his origins to get fleshed out in a novel once the show wraps up.

I suppose he's the right age that a child of his could have been a Jedi youngling.
