They're not critic proof. Into darkness initially got good reviews and then under further review it became more divisive. Much like superman returns. On face value there's nothing wrong with into darkness but once you start really analyzing it and breaking it down, it doesn't work as well

It's a lot of moments that aren't earned. That moment being one of them. Or even having Spock tell young Spock and the crew how dangerous khan is rather than letting them find out for themselves or even letting the audience find out. It was sloppy

That didn't bother me as much tbh
I can see why for thoes who saw wrath of khan tho

But they also had to build that relationship between spock and kirk too

That's what I'm saying. You can't do the moments in the movie without having that relationship built because it rings hollow
