It‘s apples to oranges. Joe Rogan has a listening base that most musicians can’t really compare to. More so, he is constantly producing new content. It’s not one album every 6 months, it’s new content every week. Also, this is an exclusivity deal meaning that the only place you can listen to Joe Rogan’s podcast is on Spotify. Music is ubiquitous. Most artists don’t even control their own music. With a podcast all you need is a mike and an instrument stream. You can have all the other bells and whistles buts not necessary. So they 100% control their shyt. The only way the comparison makes sense if you don’t actually think about it.
what is Spotify’s play with these podcast? They still have to get people to subscribe.

Do they want people listening to podcast and not music?

the problem with podcast is that the catalog is largely worthless

This is a dumb take. There are multi billion dollar hedge funds where their primary or only business is acquiring the publishing rights for music to collect royalties.
the rights are worth something but the music isn't.
the minute people are tired of that song the rights are worth nothing.

put it this way we can use Prince as an example
but substitue him for 2pac, Drake, Biggie, Jay, Nas etc if you want

Prince died with 250million after performing and dropping 20+ albums and doing blockbuster concerts, movies and events

If a podcast that gets a mill or less views an episode gets 100 million for a few years

and you only got 250 mill for nearly 50 years :dame::hubie:

This here. Y’all don’t get it. Keep talking about “ we’ll start a podcast”

they want to become the go to for all audio. they'll eventually add audio books and whatever else is left too.
