Preciate the link. Diff song diff streaming service

Pandora is fundamentally different than spotify even though they are both streaming services.
There is a good podcast on spotify and how it works from freakonomics.

They do pay musicians, i'm not sure where this notion is coming from that they dont.

What's scary is that pandora actually pays artist MORE per stream than Spotify does.

This a dumb ass take. Like other posters said, sign exclusive to Spotify and you will get a check but will that one check make up for not being on other platforms. I'm sure someone has done that math.

Another point, if people are watching Rob's show on MTV they aren't watching a show on another network. Therefore MTV is missing out on revenue. If you don't listen to one artist on Spotify but are listening to another, Spotify is still getting paid.

put it this way we can use Prince as an example
but substitue him for 2pac, Drake, Biggie, Jay, Nas etc if you want

Prince died with 250million after performing and dropping 20+ albums and doing blockbuster concerts, movies and events

If a podcast that gets a mill or less views an episode gets 100 million for a few years

and you only got 250 mill for nearly 50 years :dame::hubie:

It‘s apples to oranges. Joe Rogan has a listening base that most musicians can’t really compare to. More so, he is constantly producing new content. It’s not one album every 6 months, it’s new content every week. Also, this is an exclusivity deal meaning that the only place you can listen to Joe Rogan’s podcast is on Spotify. Music is ubiquitous. Most artists don’t even control their own music. With a podcast all you need is a mike and an instrument stream. You can have all the other bells and whistles buts not necessary. So they 100% control their shyt. The only way the comparison makes sense if you don’t actually think about it.
