I have 4 sons.

1 is dark and physical the most attractive now that they are older ...
But when they were younger .... the lightest 2 with longer hair and curly hair Black Women would make the most Cringeworthy Bullshyt comments about them 2 only. Even my own mother and older women in my family ...would punish the darker two more
We have to understand how deep brainwashing goes.
My sons are more privileged than the average lil nikkas growing up so most of this wont really affect them but

When you combine being in the hood, with the media, with our women who control the culture (along with gay nikkas)..... then I can see how some guys build up a resentment from being prejudged.

On the flipside... one of my cousin was called a soft lightkin fakkit ass nikka his whole life.... he became a savage to overcompensate. A bunch of al b sure, genwine style nikkas overcompensated because of the association of light with more feminine.

exactly great post my homie & i hate to sound like a broken record but we gotta stop doing this feast or famine thing. OF COURSE white beauty standards affect black men. have yall heard this nikka kwame brown (who i do not fukk with at all b) rant and rave about light skin men? it's wild unhealthy. it done went from a funny ass joke about matt barnes to all out sounding like a scorned LSA bytch. kwame must go into fits everytime a damn craig david video comes on BET Soul lmao. goddamn he's self hating

so we know it affects black men too. great. but does kwame represent the majority of the brown to dark majority featured monoracial black male community? hell no. not even close. besides the obvious differences in gender dynamics such as men being able to use money, power, accomplishments, and humor as erotic capital while bytches are left stranded.... remember for all my flabby and sick generation x nikkas it changed for us in 1992 but not our sistas

before 1992 light skin & non light skin minority featured nikkas were on top just like light skin & non light skin minority featured bytches. lol first let me explain that non light skin minority featured thing. the males would be special ed (my current avy), philip michael thomas who played tubbs on miami vice, and john canada terrell who played greer childs in spike lee's debut she's gotta have it. the female version of them would be rozonda chilli thomas, tatyana ali, and ananda lewis

think about it, wouldn't we look at chilli funny style if she came out like kelly rowland talmbout how it was hard to be the darkest chick in TLC? of course lol we never even thought about it. them hoes are pretty much honorary light skin chicks. nikkas are also safe to say they love them without being accused of self hatred, though a more nuanced chick could break out featurism on you. but that's rare unless she's wild shea butter with a septum piercing & a poster of michael fassbender on her wall lol

but what's wild is that it was white men and women in mass media who got al b sure, taimak, el debarge, and christopher williams out the paint in favor of darker brothers. it was so gradual we ain't even know. all of a sudden my childhood friend vicky who always loved light skin nikkas found herself gushing over wesley snipes & michael jordan in 1991. then it was tyson beckford and treach in 1992. then it was tupac & snoop in 1993. all of a sudden by the time we got to 1995 the takeover was complete and light skin nikkas were officially done on a grand scale when it came to promotion in mass media as being the premier symbols of black masculine beauty. and bytches did what they always did, follow

which is why i always argued with these bytches that yall ain't more woke than we are or conscious, bytch please. ironically it's just like yall tell us all the time, you're conditioned by the media. mc lyte told yall she gotta get a ruffneck and some light skin nikka with curly hair and hazel eyes didn't fit that description.

unfortunately, white supremacy is devious because what they also did back then over the next 15 years to create dissension is remove all of our lela rochons, big lez's, swv's, erica alexander's, mokenstefs, jade's, browstone's, adina howard's, monica calhouns, etc etc etc and replace them with redbones, yella bones, biracials, and latheenas. regulating our beautiful sistas to stripper culture symbols of masturbation in rap videos by the early 2000's. ki toy johnson, buffie tha body, bria myles, etc etc.

then sistas complained about that but didn't see the entire devious picture that led to this. so them white folks laughed and said ok, fine! and then replaced the big booty black women with big booty non black women who looked damn near white and then eventually became straight up pawgs

the whole while though the devils keep promoting monoracial black man as being these beautiful creatures. they can't lead or think like strong black women can. but goddamn they're hot. but black women are the new black men. and black men are the new black women. mission complete, white mommy and daddy cackle collectively and here we are. complete gender role reversal. we are NOT better looking than our women. it's a hideous lie, all bytches look better than their dudes and black people are no different
What's funny is...
You said "honorary "

You have to really be around the black community to even understand those types of intricacies or even wtf that means and the privileges associated

I couldn't disagree more. Of course there are examples on both sides of the spectrum that we can point to, but if we look at the most storied sex-symbol men of the last 10-20 years, brown and dark skinned men is what comes to mind (no homo :dame:..)

Denzel Washington
Tyson Beckford
Idris Elba

Like I don't think anyone is putting Shemar Moore or Chris Brown in the same conversation with Denzel Washington. He's considered the paragon of good looks, among just about everyone.
It’s a mixed bag. You see brown and dark skinned men being promoted as the face of black masculinity and sexuality, but in terms of everyday life, lighter black men tend to eat very well. Just as well as dark skinned men. Especially if that lighter dude has features that aren’t normal for black men(curly hair, light eyes). Many women claim they don’t like light skinned men, due to insecurities and the perception of dark skinnned men being thirstier and thus more likely to chase, simp, and court them. It’s a defense mechanism with many black women. I’m not complaining. I don’t think men should care about colorism or how we’re perceived outside of how it effects our job status, dealing with law enforcement, etc. But as far as colorism and skintone is concerned regarding “Who do women prefer more” or “Which skintone of black men are sex symbols” we shouldn’t care. Let the women cry about that stuff. I’ve never been offended over light skinned men eating. :dame:

Only thing I can think of that almost every Black man does

The shape up. I feel like the traditional shape up is meant to replicate how the white mans edges grow in

And OF COURSE any type of hair straightening.

Colorism is huge here as it is worldwide, but I was trying to think of things that any Breh can do grooming-wise.

I wouldn’t call Ye dark skin, but he isn’t light.

Wale just doesn’t make music that’s as good as the people you listed.

Wale makes good music, but it’s not commercial enough.

When Ambition came out it got a lot of play because it sounded really good to everyone.

Wale music just not on that level.

Let’s use Tyga for example, he had a few hits and then he was gone.

It just happens. Not saying Wale is wrong, but I don’t think it would be that much different if he was lightskin.
It’s all subjective.

But how many dark-skin non gangster/hustler rappers have made it big time?

The darkest is Ye and he’s a generational talent.

I also missed out Big Sean.

some dark skin black people don’t want to admit it. But dark skin people get treated the worse generally. School, hospital judicial system everything.

but people only want to talk about the dating marketplace where dark skin males are competitive

What Dominican nikka is named David Brewster Jr. lol

I think this might’ve hurt his career trajectory because he has a huge female fanbase consisting of predominantly black women but his pops is Bajan and his moms is a Louisiana Creole but he has a Dominican flag on his neck and has numerous references in his lyrics to being Dominican and not black lol
Plus his baby moms Dominican and exposed him for lying about being Dominican the nikka a weirdo bro lol

He mentioned his moms grandmother is Dominican but idk how that equates to being half Dominican if your father bajan and your moms less than a quarter allegedly

Wale has mentioned multiple times that if he was light skin he would be more successful

Most black men that are considered heart throbs are light-skin, biracial or racially ambiguous

T.I.,Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Dave East, Drake, J. Cole, even miscellaneous nikkas like that dude T.I. Daughter dating Bandhunta izzy, to the new up and coming like NLE Choppa

Even from a historical perspective you have common, LL Cool J, Allen Iverson, Shemar Moore, Al B. Sure, Christopher Williams etc..

Lightskin nikkas are always labeled as “Pretty” or “Soft” and I’ve been told numerous times from multiple girls that they don’t date lightskin nikkas because of the perceived notion that they will cheat more than dark skin nikkas who will “treat them better” AKA worship them for being lightskin

Im dark skin myself and I’ve been told I’m a “pretty boy” but I’ve had a women say you are “handsome” not “pretty”and upon further inquiry she revealed “pretty” is reserved for lightskin nikkas with light eyes

Does this “European Beauty Standard” effect us brother’s the same way as it effects our women?

my guy Dave East does not sell records AT ALL lol

I would have to say no. Mixed/light skinned men are also popular with women, but they don’t overshadow dark skinned dudes. Idris Elba, Morris Chestnut, Tyrese, Tyson Beckford, Denzel, the Luke Cage actor etc. are considered highly attractive in and out of the community. And even in porn, the top actors of choice :dame: are almost always dark.

Black men on all ends of the spectrum are popular (maybe except *extremely* dark dudes), whereas light skinned/mixed women unfortunately overshadow their darker counterparts and are popular at their expense (I personally like darker women more than lighter).

London baby.
I’ve noticed many light skin women or biracial women tend to go after the darkest tone of men. It’s almost like they do it to validate their own blackness. Like “ see I have a real black man”.

Exactly, it’s a fetish and weak as hell.

I know a family of mixed women like this.

They only date the darkest men they can find then move like they’re ashamed when the kids come out with African features.

One of the kids is my sister’s goddaughter and my sister told me her friend wouldn’t hold her own daughter for 2 hours after she gave birth.

She pushed her out, looked at her, passed her to my sister then said, “I’m taking a nap.”
