nikkas are so narrow minded they are basing this solely on "well the lightksin bytches love me:takedat:"

:mjlol:

and for the OP, yes it does. And it's not always tied to dating on how u can be effected

but in the time were living in, the european beauty standards are not pushed as much(atleast blatantly) as in the past.

Bro you skipped so many people that you know damn well are not light skin.

You got Michael Jordan aka the GOAT of basketball, you have Diddy who is one of the richest in Hip-Hop history, etc.

You know this breh.

How can Wale say that when Ross and Meek are pretty much the same complexion? Wasn’t two other dudes on mmg light skin? Staley and Gunplay. They ain’t no where near as successful as Wale.

I do think it matters more when it comes to R&B, but not rap.

I do think Drake’s success is partly due to his skin tone, but he makes good music.

Breh how you use Dave East as an example ?

I think colorism affects Black men BUT Black men do not get the benefit of understanding so we just keep on trucking and succeed. Also Black male sex symbols and celebrities have run the spectrum. Yes there were lightskinned dudes but there were a lot brown and darker brothas killin it too like Denzel Wesley Michael Jordan Big Daddy Kane and I could go on.

BM also bleach.

We've been living in a golden age of black hair. But for a long time, BM kept their hair short to avoid looking "nappy". We've had conks, processed and texturised waves, jheri curl etc.

He meant rappers more in his lane. Not a gangsta rapper, trying to appeal to women more with the rnb records. i do think Wale being a DARK skin black man that isn't super handsome has held him back.

Who’s in his lane?

Not saying that he wouldn’t have been more successful if he was light skin, but how much more would that help though?

There are many dark skin and brown skin rappers runnin the game.

Idris elba got sexiest man alive and that nikka is dark skinned close thread. Wasnt there a whole Twitter celebration last year on Morris Chestnut. I’m not saying that there isn’t colorism in our community but all shades of men in the black race can eat. I’m a brown skin nikka like Michael b and trey songz and the only people that I’ve heard classify that as light skinned is some one from Africa.
Exactly

Colorstruck nikkas taking another L. You not ugly because you dark, you’re just ugly because you’re ugly

I’ve noticed many light skin women or biracial women tend to go after the darkest tone of men. It’s almost like they do it to validate their own blackness. Like “ see I have a real black man”.

Drake. J Cole. Ye. Cudi.

Not precisely but moreso. Rappers that are 100% not gangsta, a softer image.

He's right, properly dark-skin rappers - people think the gangsta image suits them better.

I wouldn’t call Ye dark skin, but he isn’t light.

Wale just doesn’t make music that’s as good as the people you listed.

Wale makes good music, but it’s not commercial enough.

When Ambition came out it got a lot of play because it sounded really good to everyone.

Wale music just not on that level.

Let’s use Tyga for example, he had a few hits and then he was gone.

It just happens. Not saying Wale is wrong, but I don’t think it would be that much different if he was lightskin.
