Yeah, the complaint should be casting directors/directors/producers. You are prejudiced against AA actors compared to our Euro brothers. Why?!This isn't a job as a fireman or cop or even a doctor. This is the acting business and to try and frame it as if there is some systemic move on the part of Hollywood to not give jobs to US black people in favor of UK black people seems like a stretch. And they aren't importing black actors from the UK as part of a plan to freeze out US black actors. Better actors lose gigs all the time solely based on the whims of the person doing the casting, that is just the perils of this particular profession.
That is why the comparison of student acceptance in higher ed doesn't line up well in this specific situation.
Being annoyed by it if you are an actor from Chicago losing out on a role on The Chi to some black actor from Leeds is understandable but you can't paint it as something that the UK actors are doing to US actors like Spike seems to be doing.
like i said, i get not wanting to paint it as "stealing" or some specific plan to exclude afam's, but a lot of responses in this thread are on some "they're better trained, cats just being divisive" shyt. my whole point is that's also a shytty way to look at how people feel about this. This isn't a job as a fireman or cop or even a doctor. Because american actors suck at doing foreign accents, its really that simpleSpike and Samuel are 100 percent correct. Us ADOS Americans don’t go to the UK and steal their roles.
Good shyt spike.

This is nonsense, the average english actor can do accents better than american actors. This isnt even disputable. Just look at the scene in op post, its an american trying to do a london accent a failing miserably . Alot of people didnt know idris wasnt american because his accent was so good in the wireWatch Jeffrey Wright in Shaft and say that. So many Brits can't do accents without their natural English accents coming through. Talented ones too like Colin Firth.

I prefer we get our own studios, production companies, distribution companies, etc.
Yeah sure youll get a few english actors with bad accents but the majority are convincingly goodSo you name Idris, cool. I can name Hannah Ware on BOSS that aired on Starz and she couldn't say the word "You" without sounding like she was from Islington. FOH. The point is, Brits can do American accents yes, but that doesn't mean they do American accents better than American actors do across the board. That's just stupid.
It doesn't matter if American actors don't do British accents. The work is in America, not England for them.
Isnt this paranoia? Richest black actors in hollywood are american
1. We all prefer that to fighting over to relatively few roles we have available for us.
2. If it's even possible on a large scale, having our own studios, production, etc. is a long term solution from where we are now.
3. Even if we did have our own studios, what would your position be on non ADOS blacks playing black in our studios? Having our own studios doesn't necessarily address the issue.

But majority of acting roles go to black americansIf this was someone's greatest concern, I'd say yeah. But if it's just one issue among the many, I'd say no.
