If it was just a black thing, sure.

But it isn't. British and Australian actors are and have been taking everyones roles for the longest.

The fact of the matter is, especially when it comes to the British, acting is looked at more seriously as a craft at a younger age. Most British actors are products of great stage schools from a young age. Their ability and professionalism is just beyond the average American actor who can't even afford to learn the craft properly.

Combine that with the fact that a ten year veteran British actor with an extensive overseas resume and tremendous ability is going to be considerably cheaper than an American actor of the same quality.

ITS NOT THE SAME.

THOSE CACS ARENT PLAYING DESCENDANTS OF SLAVES
OR EVEN SLAVES IN SOME FILMS.

THEYRE JUST PLAYING CACS.

YOU CANT COMPARE THE AFRICAN AMERICAN
EXPERIENCE TO ANY OTHER GROUP IN THIS COUNTRY.

if you have beef with the term "stealing", i get it. but to dismiss the conversation like it's some petty twitter beef is to dismiss the continual psychological effect/conditioning of black americans that we're not good enough.

I think the bigger debate in this story is the acting training/skills of the African American vs. Black British. Like an earlier poster mentioned, on average, a Black Brit will be properly/better trained in acting than his/her American counterpart. This versatility is hard to easily replicate.

that ties back to my point exactly - being told we're not good enough. if we take part in the infrastructure available here in america, and likely a lower tier version of it, at least early on as the dramatic arts aren't a highly-regarded, well-funded, nor properly taught discipline in black communities and schools, go through the training, take part in the typical path to hollywood only to be told, nah, yall aren't good enough, that's fukked up and continues to reinforce how we get stuck on the outside of so many institutions. that's not the fault of the black brit who gets the role, but it's cause for frustration.

not at all accents, they are/were butchering the southern accent TWD every sunday

americans would get exceedingly better at accents if the class of the filmmaking world didn't run through america. there aren't many roles in foreign films that americans would spend time pursing, save for some potential prestige/indie award bait role, over the breadth of roles available here. you saying brits are better like it's an inherent gift as opposed to needing to be good out of necessity is a weak talking point - and this isn't just for breaking into america, but also widening the amount of work they can get in europe. if you can do a good italian accent/speak italian, french, etc. then that's even more 2nd tier countries to get work in

lastly, to that point living in europe where you're exposed to more accents in depth makes it easier, plenty of americans can do a decent accent, but inevitably they get nit picked and the small nuances you wouldn't think to do unless you've spent extensive time living with/near or talking to those people are going to be overlooked.
Which black actor had a poor accent on twd

This is what I've been saying, it's causing unnecessary division.

This whole discussion is weird since its pretty obviously a trend across the board, rather than just black actors. And when you're just looking at black actors, I can only really even think of like three or four brits who've had any kind of major roles in the U.S anway.

Above the fray.
It's more accurate to say the director, a biracial man married to a white woman, decided to cast the lead actor
Nah, actually it's not.
The post I quoted was saying that "AAs should be the ones telling AA stories" as opined by Samuel L. Jackson. I pointed out that the writer & director of the story made the casting decision for the lead. It was his story and he told it.
So, unless you're going as far as saying that Jordan Peele is not African American, I don't see the point of your post.

I see the point. It's the fault of the system in place less so the individual. If anything, I think this speaks to the state of American talent development; it's lagging internationally.

Yeah who are they actually:
  1. Idris Elba
  2. Daniel Kaluuya
  3. Letitia Wright
  4. John Boyega
  5. Chiwetel Ejiofor
  6. Naomie Harris
  7. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
  8. Thandie Newton
  9. Cynthia Erivo
  10. Lennie James
  11. David Oyelowo
  12. Carmen Ejogo
  13. Gugu Mbatha-Raw
I gleaned this mostly from this list:
https://www.imdb.com/list/ls023100502/

And while the list is long I only listed people I recognized. Yeah, it's not that many people doing it big, they are mostly getting 'character' actor parts.
I also looked at top Black actor lists and yeah, they are dominated by Americans. This is barely a problem actually.
