I mean damn they just went from not playing crackheads and gang bangers anymore and now there's opportunities for them and all we can talk about is cause they're from England we should be shytting on them.
And then you wonder why they don't give our black asses shyt when they make it. I would too, fukk y'all hating asses. Crab ass nikkas.
Do you see Downey attacking Bale?!?
This is stupid ass comparison and y'all need to stop makiing these comparisons to White people.
White Americans are rich as hell with the world in their palms. White American control damn near everything worth controlling.
Native Black Americans aren't. It would be different we just had all the opportunities in the world.
We have limited opportunities and often times, we are telling American stories, with an American production crew, and they'll go all the way to Britain, to find a Black person, when there are more Black people in the USA than in Britain. There ain't that many of them.
This is why Black Americans don't get to have anything, because Black Americans don't like to assert power and hurt people's feelings. These Black Brits have no history in American cinema, didn't pave the way for anybody of color on screen or in entertainment but they get to skip all the struggle Black Americans had to do and still have to do just get a movie made, because they can't do it in their own country, because White American decision makers, give no fukks and just want some cheap talent.
It's not a coincidence once Black American film and tv renaissance of the 1990s, we get a bunch of Black Brits playing Black Americans in Black American dominated stories, with American film production and American producers. It took long and arduous work and we just gonna turn our segment of the entertainment industry over to the needs and desires of production companies that don't care about the Black American struggle, just to get some fukking movies?
I much rather be like the Italian Americans and only be depicted as gangsters if the film crew and production and actors are all Black Americans. And how does Black Brits playing Black Americans help Black British cinema or television or Black Brit culture, do they not care about their people?
This is about Black American labor and popular Black American culture, it's about not Black Brits, it's about Black Americans building Black American cinema and television and only to be replaced with cheaper limited Black talent that are native English speakers and then being told that Black Brits are just better at acting and they have special training when they really just pretend to be Black American and play out a Black American life. That's all they do. You telling me that, we should be okay with that? They are saying we don't know our own life and are enable of playing ourselves.
This is about the devaluation of Black American acting and storytelling. It's important to have Black American stories, with Black American actors, with Black American directors, with Black American producers, because that is how we maintain our memory and how we make opportunities for those that will come after us. If there was nobody that emphasized that, we wouldn't be where we are. Everybody does it or at least tries to do it or wishes they can do it. Chinese government has a foreign film quota on for a reason, they don't want their people to look at people that ain't them and have their film industry high jacked by Americans.
Having Black Brits in Black American cinema and TV helps no one but American production companies that like cheap talent.
