The asian milf was bad af. :whew:

Delroy knocked this out of the park. :whoo:

Peters is as consistent as ever. Underrated actor.

Isiah Whitlock. :myman:

Fat white boy parts had me dying.

Him flying in the air trying to get behind the rock when bullets were flying :russ:

When Delroy's character kept slapping the sh*t out of him. :laff:

Then

Guys, I don't think that's a good idea to walk :ld:

Delroy's character: you afraid of some exercise fat boy!:damn:

:laff:

fat white boy: So that means we all get a million a piece. :ld:

:deadmanny:

All in all a good movie. Great actors.

Terrance Blanchard coming through as always on the score for Spike. :myman:

Good effort by Spike. Enjoyed the movie.

Watched it and I liked how it started off but then it took a turn for the worst. I loved the messaging throughout but it seems like Spike forgot to put it altogether and make a good movie and this simply wasn't. Delroy was obviously amazing but IMO he couldn't even save the movie overall. Like someone else said it's like Spike has forgotten how to make a good movie.

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
:francis: Movie was trash yall. Easily one of Spikes worst flicks (although not as :trash: as his remake of oldboy)

Movie was disjointed as hell. Poor dialogue. The cutouts barely offered any context. And the ending?

I suppose if you have low expectations, it's somewhat entertaining. It's your standard Netflix movie that you have on in the background during a Saturday afternoon. But it's no where near Spikes more notable catalog.

This was good but Def not great. That 'sweet blood of Jesus' remake was easily one of the worst things ever. Dude in the lead hasn't been in a movie since

In the sky
It was called French Indochina in colonial times
Điện Biên Phủ - Wikipedia this is what kicked shyt off. America had troops over there since the mid 50s
The French and the Catholic Church. Some call it Spellmans War or Spelly's War. Them folks work with the Mafia moving opium as part of the French Connection.

THE FRENCH COLONIAL SCENE IN SOUTHEAST ASIA from History of the Opium Problem: The Assault on the East, ca. 1600-1950 on JSTOR

"For the French, from their point of view, there was not much territory left in Indochina. As losers of the large European wars, they were also much slower to take their share of this Indochina cake, although they started early enough. This was a remarkable and symptomatic beginning, and not only in hindsight.4 Here they had already relations with local rulers, while French missionaries spread the Catholic civilization française in the usual arrogant and aggressive way. It is one of the rare examples of Western missionaries arriving before the military occupation."

"The military now could come, for example, in Vietnam to “protect” the Paris Foreign Missions Society. The Vietnamese elite saw these Catholic priests, obviously, as a cultural and political threat. King Minh-Mang, who succeeded to the throne in 1820, hated these ‘barbarians from the West’."
I been running thru this JStor Pub regarding the dope game over the course of the past year: History of the Opium Problem: The Assault on the East, ca. 1600-1950 on JSTOR

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
They couldn't find younger actors or cgi these dudes:mjtf:

Acting was great everything else was ehh though too many unnecessary scenes imo
Lol
at first I thought he was taking liberties with the directing and the Bloods would be narrating the flashbacks fazing themselves in and out but nope... it is distracting to be honest
Just starting the thread so sorry if it's been answered

The reason why the characters appear old during the war flashbacks is because it isn't a flashback but instead it is the characters remembering the past, therefore they remember the past with their current age. It also symbolizes that in their mind, they are still in Vietnam and will continue to be in Vietnam, never fully being able to move on from that war.

Another reason (other than the one previously mentioned) for the men to be their same old age in Vietnam flashbacks is to put primary focus on Chadwick Boseman's character who died young in the war, being the only young man of the group.

yeah, this was just alright
cinematography was great
but I saw most of the plot points coming especially
i said to myself right when Eddie started to step backwards that he was going to step on a landmine:francis:
When Leon The Professional shows up, hes going to do some shady shyt to the main characters pretty much in all his movies:mjlol:
I knew Clay Davis was going to sacrifice himself somehow soon as he said he wouldn't early in the movie:manny:
and that girl was right, the BLM moment was kinda cringe:snoop:
I knew from the moment delroy

Said "But does he come in your dreams like mine"......... That he killed him

My grandfather fought and was shot in WW2. Then came home and was denied basic rights. Also dealt with severe PTSD until his death. This shyt was perfect in touching on the brothers who fought for this country back when we were still treated like peasants. I don't give a damn about the critics of "dragging" or "the score" This movie is powerful and will reach who it needs to.
