:heh: I don't like to nitpick people's arguments for little slip-ups and typos, but the nationalities of the people in this movie are so integral to the plot it makes me question your entire understanding of the movie.

I think the Son came on the trip hoping to get close to a father whose approval has eluded him his entire life, and his 'getting in on the take' is partly revenge for that mistreatment and emotional damage, and an attempt to win the respect of his father.

The grenade (not landmine) was close to Otis, and also it was an old military reflex.

I agree they should have spent more time on character development for the bloods even though I think Otis got some good character time.
Son and father shyt I low key felt that

Fantastic movie.

I hope all of those Joaquin Phoenix as Joker guys :mjpls: take note of what a true masterclass in acting really looks like with Delroy Lindo. He deserves an Oscar nod.

Lot of white boys and white washed nikkas on this site that love to comment on black issues..... solid flick by Spike..... real solid.....

I just checked and he first started his monologue before the snake bite and of course it was after they were chasing him:ufdup:

I can forgive the one after the snake bite but not the first.

His son said earlier in the movie that he talks to himself..... and some of the black history references/current events are forced down your throat, but Spike does edutainment.... and this was it......

Probably heaviest and most thorough critique of the film. Really insightful thread. And I can understand his perspective cause how America portrays them on film :manny:

He's right about them still thinking about Norm even after the mine incident.
