I don’t think it’s her delusion. I think she deals with guys who don’t own up to their shyt and she’s in a world that doesn’t. Your friends may say that about themselves but the world at large doesn’t. The world at large still says men are right to be dogs and women should act right or else. Again not saying you feel that way or your friends do or even that I do but that’s what the world says. My boy said the same thing tho. If he knew a guy fukking around like that he’d call them on their shyt just like he would with her and that’s valid. But that’s not the narrative at large for the populace and that’s what she was rebelling against. She’s by no means perfect but I get where she’s coming from

In a Country where black women lead STD stats, and Single Mother Hood is rampant, what does "sexual liberation" get us? either way everyone has the right to their own choices in life, but once again stuff like this is why this show is pretty goofy to me compared to say Insecure which I find much more grounded (to a degree) to reality.

It's not about where it gets us its the point that its your choice. The show isn't saying it's the responsible thing to do. In fact a lot of characters say it's completely irresponsible, but she's her own person and she's going to do her

First scene of the first episode I said out loud, oh lord she has a septum ring :beli:

Spike still mad about that Malcolm X Oscar huh? I couldn't tell.

Camera jumping like an action movie at this brunch/lunch scene :why:

Decent first episode.

EVERYBODY KNOWS Denzel should of won! But at least Spike gave context, because Pacino was snubbed for decades whereas Denzel already had an Oscar.

Not true, any black person who goes to college may have to deal with the whole thing about juggling two identities and dealing with white people. Lots of girls from the hood also have the whole pressure about having a nice booty and being IG famous in order to make money, sometimes superficial but sometimes their are deeper issues their as well. Especially the part at the end of episode 5 where Nola is talking to the young girl about her not idolizing hoes and the issues of identity women have to deal with.
breh this is everybody.

Nobody acts the way they really are in professional settings.
Its just people w/ low self esteem being extra.

So i don't know if i missed something but..
did she end up sorting things out with her bougie art gallery friend? i didn't see anything about that in the last episode.

They didn't have another scene together in the series, but I imagine they would have been able to sort it out and still be friends. It didn't seem like a friendship ending thing.

Just finished the series and overall I enjoyed it :ehh:.

The fact each episode is around only 30 minutes and the season is only 10 episodes helps.

I really like the opening credits with the jazz music playing and all the different shots of people in the neighborhood.

I mostly kept watching to see where she would end up and who she would end up choosing :lupe:. I felt her decision at the end was true to who she was as a character, but it couldn't have been me at that table for long :hubie:.

Despite how beautiful Nola's face and brown eyes looked :noah:.

I don't know what accent Fat Joe was doing, but his scenes were :heh:.

Was I the only one who thought Jamie's wife was white at first :patrice:
