Black Hands on Green Money
Finally finished the first season. I wanna start off by saying fat joe was funny asf as winny win. :russ: "you aint have no favor Jaime. you aint no soda. you a fukking seltzer water, you was talking like a white boy when I met you." :mjlol:breh had me dying with that shyt.

I actually liked all ten episodes including the finale because to me it solidified the idea that these three dudes (Jaime, Greer, and Marz) created the "One" perfect lover for Nola. Im not sure what say about Opal. She just seems like she is there to catch Nola when she falls. Not really a viable love interest. Even tho I find Nola to be selfish af and emotionally stunted, with her unwillingness to grow up and her lack of commitment. As a creative myself, I find her independence, drive and passion for her craft and culture pretty intoxicating. I have no problems believing she could have 3 nikkas who are all completely different from each other (aside from each being passionate as well; Hiphop, Poetry, Photography) completely infatuated with her.
But at the same time I was kind of hoping for a "end game" moment. Where she realises that her ideas about what life and love is needed to change. That her current romantic situation was not sustainable. But we never got there. I feel like we got great look into the Life and Times of Nola Daring but we didnt really get a chance to see her progress at all. She literally stays the same throughout the entire season. All in all I enjoyed this lil gem tho.

Exactly how I see it. Nola Darling did not grow at all even if she THINKS she made some growth. The entire season she learned nothing and still a self-centered confused whore. She thought that by revealing the so-called men in her life to one another and point to them as the 3-headed monster that it would be some kind of liberation to where she can have her cake and eat it too, but that's not the truth. This is partially why it was basically appropriate to end it with Opal at her door, because Nola never factored in her in that equation.

Yeah that 30k-45k for elite private schools is real out there in NYC. But the long term
value is real, me and my ex had beef because she couldn't envision paying those type of prices for a childs education. One of the main reasons I wouldn't go back if I had kids. But a large portion of my law school classmates went to private schools with that price tag so yeah that shyt is very real.

I like SL's movies, but I couldn't get through 15 minutes of the original. I think a Do the Right Thing setting would have a lot more story telling room.

One more thing. Nola's pride is her Achilles heel. She's gonna fukk around and end up like Da Mayor if she learn to humble herself. Got damn near everyone reaching out to help her on any and everything and her pride would rather burn that bridge. Even something simple as staying overnight with her parents was too prideful to deal with!
