Got this from a comment section:

These sanctions are tougher than you think-- and it's only the beginning.
First off, three of these seven have tens of millions abroad. The NSA and DC know exactly which assets, what accounts, and where. The banks already were told not to transfer liquid assets out, or what will happen to the banks is what happened to UBS of Switzerland.
Second, these seven (there will be more) cannot go to London, Paris, Geneva, Munich, Gstaad, or Chamonix. They cannot send their children to private schools abroad-- and those who have children in such schools (two of the seven, plus two more who were planning to send children abraod), will have to take them back home, because the kids' school visas will be cancelled too.
Third, another list is being prepared-- of about 50 folks. These will understand that their own assets will soon be frozen (they already are-- the assets can be used abroad, but not moved), and their kids will not be able to study abroad-- or even travel.
This that an ever larger number of the "Nomenklatura" know that if they follow Putin, they PERSONALLY will suffer, as will their families.
And there are other such PERSONAL measures that are being planned. Here is a hint:
The Turkish PM Erdogan was helping Iran, and going against the US in the Mid East. The US ground its teeth, and bore it silently. Then Erdogan overstepped: He said he'd buy missiles from the Chinese, and connect them to the NATO network-- for which, he will give the Chinese NATO's IFF (plane i.d.) codes...
Within a week, Erdogan's political enemies got recordings of Erdogan talking about bribes, his bribed cronies got their Swiss bank accounts published, and Erdogan is now fighting for his political life.
Similarly, the CIA/NSA know all the dirty financial corruption details of the top Russian politicians. So long as the Russkies don't overstep, they are allowed to rob their own people. But if Putin oversteps, all kinds of data and recordings will start finding their way to the web.
And other personal stuff too. Dirtier stuff.
Wait and see...

Now the question is how would this relate to Russia foreign policies??? Putin could give a fukk less about half those people and criminals.
Uh...the people sanctioned are very close to backroom deals that pertain to Russia and Ukrainian relations.

Its a step towards ratcheting up the pressure.

"Sanctions have failed to dissuade Iran from continuing to enrich uranium. They haven’t dislodged North Korea’s repressive and erratic leaders or forced a rollback of their nuclear and missile programs. For all the international pressure on Syria’s Assad, the regime is getting more ruthless, not less, and the policy debate in Washington has moved on to how much military support to provide the rebels."

The thing with Kaliningrad is Russia would have to ship or fly all of the necessary stuff in and the US would be looking for it. When they have deployed missiles there in the past the US knew immediately.
Its all speculation now.

You barely hear about the region in the news as of now anyways.

The point is that regions like this could be a point of interest for similar actions to what happened in Crimea.

Its the fact that its a well informed comment to anyone who thinks these sanctions arent important.

Your name is on an international list and NO ONE in the west can fukk with you on paper.

Your money is frozen.

Your visas are revoked.

anyone associated with you is under STRICT watch.

Thats a serious move out here. The average person can't handle that.

The issue of Russia touching Poland is nonsense. Not only would the US be forced to act, Germany and the rest of Western Europe is not going to stand by while Russia violates the sovereignty of their neighbor. On top of that, Poland is a member of NATO and significant American military assets are stationed there. Complete non-issue in my opinion. Putin hasn't even gone as far as occupying the rest of Ukraine
