Why would anyone but Stan's be worried?

Sony is already at the top, you know what the status quo is.

Them being the defacto choice isn't something that has proven to be good for gaming as a whole the last couple years.
Nor has it proven to be bad either. Sony has mostly been the top dog for the better part of a couple decades.

He was the head of GLOBAL SALES AND MARKETING.

:mjlol:
I’ll take what the man himself says over some random poster on a message forum

Ryan says in a statement. “But I’ve found it increasingly difficult to reconcile living in Europe and working in North America. I will leave having been privileged to work on products that have touched millions of lives across the world; PlayStation will always be part of my life, and I feel more optimistic than ever about the future of SIE.”

"I'm totally against the direction Jim Ryan was leading Sony, and I'm glad he's gone"

"but that has nothing to do with why he retired" :whoa:

"he wanted to spend more time with his family" :skip:

:mjlol:
People retire from jobs. That especially goes for people who are wealthy, of retirement age, and have demanding jobs.

Every time someone high profile leaves a job it doesn’t have to be a conspiracy. Jeff Bezos stepped down as the CEO of Amazon and nobody forced him out. Sometimes people just want to move on in life.

Nothing you’ve posted refutes my original statement.

I’d try and insult you back but I don’t even know who you are to craft a fitting insult. Oh well.

Stop being a goof.

You’re trying to argue against the idea that his travel time would be increased, due to the current state of the ps5 brand more than usual.

Go to bed.

obviously none of us know what happened

maybe we should take him for his word. but when people retire, or step down, from these positions, they never admit it was for performance reasons, because that would be a bad look for the whole company. these companies always want their public image to be that "everything is fine", despite what might be going on internally

here we have a situation where him leaving apparently lines up with what fans, and people within the company, wanted. so the jokes write themselves. and it's even more fun watching people claiming they wanted him gone, while defending the PR position that "everything is fine"

CEOs don’t just step down when all is going great. Don’t care how much traveling they need to do.

It’s clear someone with power didn’t like the direction they were going or JR didn’t see eye to eye with them.

The chart i posted above alone would get anyone the boot. They are 5 games behind what they said was their future while profits are in the shytter.

Console sales alone don’t make money. Only so long you can keep throwing that console sales number out there before investors start asking when/where is the profit coming from? You can see by all of their recent moves they are looking for that answer.

Microsoft got their strategy with Cloud, Gamepass, PC, Mobile.

Nintendo is in a whole different situation as they actually make money off hardware.

Sony is stuck between the fact that traditional console and AAA retail game purchases are their bread and butter, but it’s also the most difficult/risky way to make money on gaming in 2023. Any attempt to reach into those other markets will canibalize what they’ve built their gaming empire around and legitimize their competitors strategies.

Gonna be interesting to see where this all goes. For the first time we got the big 3 all successful and all focused on a very different strategy.:ehh:
