Meanwhile, Microsoft already slashing prices/proprietary items in an effort to compete. Plus you got business execs and even the former CEO saying the gaming division should be sold off. its funny how the arguments have deviated and compared apples to oranges..we have been comparing xbox to playstation video game divisions...everyone knows sony as a company has been suffering, and that has been every decade...the walkman kept them afloat, then the cdman kept them afloat, then playstation.

Playstation is in no way a cash cow. Over the last decade the playstation division has posted a net loss as well. Even with sales of PS4 better than X1 currently. Microsoft is making more money off of the gaming industry than Sony, and has been for some time.

Sony’s gaming division is losing money as well. Sony reported that they lost nearly $80 million on gaming for the year ending in March ’14. The company attributed costs associated with launching the PS4 and a $60 million write-off for Sony Online Entertainment.

this console launch has taken alot of cash from them but the record sales are going to offset that for the gaming division.
