Sony plunged $10 billion after its PS5 sales cut. But a bigger issue is its near decade low games margin

And yet Sony only went multiplat after MLB's attempt at making a competitor flamed out.
That’s MLB business like you said

It's almost like Sony saw the value of PS-only releases and preferred to avoid the cost of porting everywhere, especially to consoles like Switch where MTX revenue is almost certainly low.

Crazy :wow:
And then they signed a contract to bring the game to xbox gamepass.

Crazy :wow:

Not that crazy since MLB wanted it. :wow:

Just another example of a game that would have never gone anywhere, even PC, because Sony was happy with their margins until MLB sweetened the pot. :wow:

They should give Switch owners that FIFA Legacy copy if they can't do like NFL allows with Madden and skip the Switch entirely. EA knows that Switch owners don't pay for MTX because they're in the video game business, and only the NFL is popular and smart enough not to tell the experts in the video game business where to port their game. :wow:

A contract requires two parties to be in agreement

MLB's concern is their license being in as many places as their competitors in the live sports market are in first and licensing revenue second.

Sony's concern is MTX and general game revenue.

They are two different concerns. I don't know why you think that MLB cares about Sony's business model beyond making sure that if they're the only one who wants the MLB license, those games are everywhere.
So MLB wanted Sony to follow the same model as other, more profitable sports franchises.

You're out here acting like Rob Manfred knows something about video games when we just saw someone in a similar position, Gianni Infantino, try to extort EA for double the licensing fee money. The only thing he cared about was getting more money for what he saw as a crucial license, not helping EA run their business toward better profitability. He had no clue how costly AAA game development was, either, since he announced a FIFA game that would be the true FIFA game on a timeline that clearly indicates he knows nothing about video games.

How are you this dumb to think that these licensors care about the actual game? They just care about a) collecting a licensing fee and b) making sure they have the same mindshare as their competitor leagues. They're not out here looking at publisher financials and steering the direction of the game itself. :snoop:
Sony already had the license. In order to renew that license Sony was forced to put the game on all consoles.

Also, you do know that MLB publishes a Sony made game on Xbox. :pachaha:

Now why would they want that change? Seems the partnership was going just fine??

Random speculation.

Fact is, sony is now investing in multiplatform content. That was their choice. They could use the money resources on exclusive content if they wanted to.

“probably”

Meaning more tales from your ass :ehh:
It's not random speculation. PlayStation management wanted nothing to do with it. The fact that they don't publish MLB the Show on Xbox and the fact that Bungie will self-publish multiplatform games on Xbox is living proof.

Again, you are assigning your own feelings to business moves.

Bungie self publishing is the same as Sony self publishing :pachaha: .

But let’s be honest. A lot has changed since the 2019 deal with the MB, which likely made way for the same agreements with Bungie.

Sony obviously didn’t want to do this under Ryan, but he’s no longer in the captains chair and we’re seeing different behavior.

And honestly, we’ve heard similar complaints from third parties like Square about console exclusives not hitting targets.

Spiderman 2 cost 300 mill to make
Spiderman 1 cost around 100

Objectively speaking as someone who loved both games, I'm not seeing how there's a 3x difference when the alot of the gameplay and a good part of the map was carried over from the 1st

MLB has to publish it because Sony isn't interested in publishing.

MLB's concern was not profitability, it was the reach of the MLB brand. I think Sony knows the video game business better than MLB. They clearly were willing to port a few of their games to PC. If the cost-benefit analysis were good enough for Sony to port The Show to PC, they would have done it. MLB isn't doing any of that math and doesn't care. They just want their game everywhere.

The fact that Sony told them to publish that shyt themselves is evidence that they wouldn't have done it on their own. But keep thinking that you, Meach, and Rob Manfred know more about the business of video games than Sony does. :mjlol:

Insomniac themselves said the same thing.

The returns both creatively and economically just aren’t worth the exorbitant increase in resources.

That’s why they’ve been making the middle stop gap games like Miles Morales and now Venom which cost much less money and therefore have higher profit potential.

They also said they wanna pull things back a in scope a bit with wolverine and make some smarter planning and design choices to prevent the budget from going crazy like it did with Spider-man 2

Sony signed the contract :stopitslime:

That 4 billion dollars could have made lots of exclsuive content. Sony decided it was better used to make multiplatform games

I’m not blurring anything. That’s what happened.

You are trying to blur reality pretending sony is an unwilling partner that was dragged into the deal.

Sony wants multiplat money and they made a deal to get it :ehh:
Y'all nikkas don't be getting the point.
Sony is destroying the movie industry and the videogame industry :wow:
shyt gonna be funny till sony pulls the spiderman license from m(id)cu :mjlol:
