1.2 billion deferred payments for employee retention is shrewd move by Sony. For those that don't know or remember Rare had mad exodus once MS bought them - leaving an incredible developer to rot.
What we are witnessing is a monumental pivot by Sony. The better question is how will this play out.
For existing studios, how are they feeling - especially Insomniac which is carrying PS5 at the beginning of this gen. Will Bungie now override them and other stalwarts like ND? Also would current developers leave Sony as they are betraying their traditional game focus?
Honestly it is such a fcking exciting time in the game industry.
