The fact that people are acting like this is in response to the Activision deal are hilarious, nobody goes out and spends $3.5B on a whim. They've been negotiating this deal for months and now it starts to make sense why Bungie had been hiring so heavy and expanding leading up to this announcement.
They absolutely sealed this deal at the current price point as a response. :stopitslime:

its actually wild because d1 and 2 both got shyt for how they launched but you could legit argue that destiny has the best persistent, ongoing story in gaming right now. even with ff14 doing numbers in its own right

The seasonal content release has been pretty dope, it’s a lot easier to follow and more well written. I like the flavor text of the weapons(Graviton Lance :mjlol:)and the grimoire to expand more if you want to get more out of it. I’m loving the angle they’re going with the Darkness.

Now post those weekly Crucible "engagement" numbers when Trials isn't up (or when it is up but the weapon/map is trash). :russ::unimpressed:

Ain't nobody or caring about Destiny like they do Fortnite, Apex, Halo, COD, etc. I say that as someone who's played the game since 2015. "Competitive" FPS games have been an industry centralizing juggernaut since 2004. A force Sony has tried and FAILED to capitalize on multiple times with the likes of Killzone and Resistance... both of which are dead in the water as IPs and have NEVER come close to making any waves in that market the way Microsoft's flagship IP did back in the day and how COD and BR games do now. Sony is hedging their (exorbitant) bets that "Matter" or whatever it'll actually be called will have the same impact now that Halo did back in the day (and is slowly starting to once again) and that they'll finally be able to have a LASTING piece of the lucrative console FPS pie. Cause shytty ass Destiny crucible sure as shyt never will. :mjlol::camby:

Why do you keep saying no one plays Destiny? :dwillhuh:

You posted all of that for what though? No one has ever claimed Destiny to be a competitive fps though. It's a looter shooter, still after 5 years, the #1 looter shooter.

And #1 looter shooter mean jack shyt (they actually aren't even, Borderlands is the #1 looter shooter IP in terms of sales by far) :russ: People don't buy a fukking console to play looter shooters, they buy them and then KEEP spending money on their online subscription services to play COD and Apex. THAT'S what Sony wants but has never been able to achieve with flops like Killzone.

Really feel like these recent grabs are gonna destroy gaming. People are gonna have to pick sides even more because of "exclusives." I hope some deals can be worked so games under the MS/Sony banner can still be played on the other's platform.
People already have to pick sides. It's just that the majority are picking the same side. Say Microsoft sold 50 million Xbox Ones and Sony sold 120 million PS4s. That's not far from reality so Sony owns 70% of the market. Is that healthy for competition?

only makes sense if you look at the tradeoff and $$$ involved in COD leasing for the future

they can multiplat destiny and the money made from microsoft would offset the dough they pay to use COD

basically using destiny and COD to offset eachother to crossplat ... instead of using COD and just paying microsoft and handing them bread, they can get alot of that dough back through destiny leasing now

that would be a smart move to make a decent portion of the money back, obviously some stan will bring up sales not matching... but its still a good portion of recovery
