Gaming, while much more accessible these days, is still somewhat looked at as a niche hobby. What's affordable to most families doesn't even matter when most families don't even game like that. Also,I copped my first brand new HDTV at that time, a 40" 1080P Sammie, for 900 bucks (1100 after tax).

See above.

Well obviously Sony miscalculated the new tech/ casual user ratio which is why they lost this generation :umad:

4k is far far away, kind of useless with our IP and Television cost issues.

I didn't wanna expose anybody, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do :manny:
MS's console turned into more of a streaming box over the years... the console offers great value for content (I literally use it solely for ESPN and NBA League Pass right now).

That's what seems to be where they're taking this. They're already in bed with ISPs allowing people to use their 360 as a content box for their cable providers.

I'm not seeing where the hype is for "gaming" when bringing up their vision though. For the past 2 years, they have been pushing Kinect and internet apps. Am I wrong?
But this thread + The PS4 reveal show wasn't following in the exact same footsteps :stopitslime:
Console war bias is crazy YO.

In the always on thread, these same dudes made it clear not everyone has broadband, why alienate all these people :sadbron:
But making the ps4 more expensive so they can push yet another medium that requires you to have the space for a 100in TV... and its all good, cuz they future proofing yo :what:

I didn't realize most ppl were balling like that. How many ppl you know with home theater basements?
When you guys go to the actual movie theater, do you sit in the front row?
Do you like sitting in the front row? Do you realize the amount of space you'd need to enjoy 4K from a proper viewing distance?

Useless tech, now cut the check  3cepts

That's not a lot for people with fiber optic connections (Verizon FIOS/Google Fiber... etc), for the rest of us shyt ain't happening unless PS4s come with the 100 GB Blu-Ray XL drive. They didn't announce it spec wise, but if they want the 4K shyt to be more accessible... just pop one of those in there.

:rudy: how about korea, japan, sweden, basically all of europe

Consoles don't sell that well in most of those countries. I don't even think Korea allows outside consoles
Japan consoles have been barely selling at all. They don't buy american, and the ps3 is the ps3 :manny:
Sweden I never in my life heard them mentioned when talking console sales
And europe while they don't report sales, they still have the same problem you said
Which is, 4KTV isn't a reality right now :hula:

What are the speeds in the countries you named tho TJS?

from what i've read 100mbit can be had for about 30 bux a month in most of those countries

the reality is, you need a screen about 85 inches or bigger to see the benefits of 4k. most ppl dont have a projector or the guap for a 85 inch screen. i'm still interested in the prospect of it in the future though
