All this thread proves is Sony is hellbent on pushing new mediums onto the masses. But nobody will be buying 4kTV's anytime soon. Sony surprisingly wants to push 4ktv's and that should the final straw in bankrupting the company.
This is not good news for video game consumers. And shouldn't this also push up the price of the ps4? Making it 4k compatible isn't a cheap upgrade, that's all I'm saying. I don't like this...

I think things are picking up overall, but yeah... for every person who is on top of upgrading their ISP speeds there are probably 5 times as many people who are cool with 5mbps
I know that Comcast is currently in the process of doubling their fastest packages for free, which would put people on their Extreme plans to 100mbps and people on their Blast to like 70mbps. They're also releasing a 200mbps package in the summer. So things are moving along... it's just when it's actually common place for everyone to have those kind of speeds at this point.
Yeah, funny I was talking to my boy about this just a lil while ago today. The tech is there, but yeah, some folks aren't ready for it (mostly older folks I reckon). Thing is, while the tech is there, the price makes it far from justifiAble purchases for most (which I fully understand), but at the same time, prices won't drop too soon when the market is still mainly for the niche crowd either. And like the other cat said too, greed is playing a heavy factor at keeping those alienating prices high to begin with. Such a sickening loop. All this shyt should be affordable and could be if the world wasn't so greedy.

It's not mutually exclusive at all. You don't need a 4KTV to play PS4. And how do you know if it's a cheap upgrade or not?
Sony isn't the only manufacturer making 4KTVs either. They're just making a device that can be used to display the content when it eventually comes out.
Would you rather them have a 4K add-on down the road like MS did with HD-DVD?

Nah, I'm pretty sure he just wishes that it was MS doing it first. If Sony was to so much have the smallest of a typo, he'd be the first to point that it's a sign of doom, gloom and an immenient, inevitable end for the company. But...
First of all, Blu-Ray and 4K are entirely 2 different things here. The inclusion of Blu-Ray was big for Sony because like you've mentioned, they were pushing the new medium. I would say that it was necessary for some games, and I would also say that some devs wished that MS went with a larger medium because of the limited space on DVD when compared with Blu-Ray (GTA4 comes to mind, and other games that had multiple discs on 360)
4K is different because Sony isn't worried about bringing it to discs. They see that things are going digitally and now it's just a matter of people being presented the bandwidth to handle the content. They're not developing or putting in some new drive just for 4K content
That's completely different from what you're comparing it with when it comes to Blu-Ray

Thing is, YOU didn't have to buy it when it launched. And a lot of people didn't buy it initially. They took a risk and it backfired with the pricing. But for you to act like the shyt wasn't the complete package from a hardware standpoint when it dropped is just flat out hating.

Sony put out a quality device that didn't need hardware revisions to keep up with the times. It actually stripped features to cut the cost down.
MS had to come out with how many different designs/versions of the 360 just to offer what was expected.
