How is it for y'all over there? Ya'll country isn't built on capitalism as such so how does it compare? What are the goods and bads?
Theres no black middle class over here, its literally been designed as whites in the office, nikkas on the floor. They've allowed asians to gain some headway as a whole nikkas is pretty much disenfranchised from moving up.

It's the same here which is why I laugh when this website is so short sighted about Black unity. All those other ethnicities within those other races don't like each other but they are on code when they are in gatekeeping situations.

Same shıt on my end and my CDT manager is a black woman that kisses ass and is a huge cọon. She doesn't know my role nor how much work I put in but gives me a poor performance review plus I have weekly one on one's where she's condescending af. I've been applying to 50 to 100 jobs a week. May not even give a 2 weeks notice when I quit.

I'm also the only black male at my job. I work around mostly diverse non black women.

Sorry but none of these work scenarios I'm reading in this thread are out of the ordinary of what goes on in a corporate environment :manny:

And blame yourself for not asking for a raise. Corporations know the higher in skill you go, the less available people who can do that type of work in the marketplace exists. You have to play into that mindset. You have to know your value, and the Corporation for damn sure is not going to tell you your value

It's been like this since before our time. It takes a special type brotha to make it long term in Corporate. I played the game for about 10 years until I just couldn't anymore.

-Lack of promotions
-Being the young, handsome, intelligent bul in the office can bring positive and negativity to your life in that setting. Eventually like someone said earlier, the luster will wear off and YOU WILL get a target on your back.
-The snake shyt by CACs/Asians/Indians is expected after awhile.....but to deal with it from our sistas fukked my head up something bad.
Yea, I may need therapy. It's crazy how some of our own sistas are the biggest snakes. I've mentally checked out and don't even communicate with anyone. My girl even said it, most black women are terrible bosses. Her boss being a fair black woman is an anomaly.

Expound on this breh.
There's no equality or unity in the black middle class. There's only upper and lower class.

You rarely see a co-mingling of a middle class because most companies will only put you in those 2 categories.

Upper class consist of either coọns and sellouts or really intelligent hardworking people. As black men, you gotta play chess and don't put loyalty in a company.

@LiveFromLondon Already much said the key parts in his reply.

Here isn’t built on in your face aggressive capitalism but it is built on a feudalistic rent seeking mindset. Americans are so greedy that they’re hard working and innovative, brits are greedy & lazy.

Property is king so those who have it a clear advantage. Salaries are increasingly trash compared to US.

No clear Black Middle class although this may change IMO. I think the African Second gens may create this once they leave london.

TLDR - Unproductive economy with clear racial wealth gap. Wouldn’t recommend but better than other European countries IMO.

Having a job = bootlicker now?
Kissing ass and going above your requirements for the same pay is being a bootlicker. It goes without saying to NOT be lazy, actually do you job , and be a teamplayer but it has to be compensated or at least receive some acknowledgement of being a honorary employee. But doing all that shyt for free? tsk tsk...:smh:

Is it just me?

I really got fukked over on my performance review this year and it will probably cost me about 30k after tax due to being given a lower bonus.

As a black person I always knew id never fit in with these white/asian folks and that they will always look for the simplest reason to fukk you over or cut you loose. But i am seeing it now more than ever.

The thing is it isnt just me. It seems like a lot of black ppl i know are struggling big time lately with being respected or rewarded at work across different fields

How are things on yalls end? Are yall noticing anything similar?
Gotta start your own shyt. :yeshrug: And that comes with its own struggle, and WAY more risk.

Or you got to settle in and accept how you’re gonna get treated in the corporate world. But trying to figure out if you’re being treated unfairly, thinking about it, etc, ain’t gonna change anything. Just gonna stress you out.

Strike one your black
Strike two your black
Strike three your black

Corporate America will always look for a reason not to promote you because of your blackness and under compensate you because your black.. They keep those two mechanisms in place so that they can keep their quota of having diversity in hiring but won’t allow you upward mobility within the company.

This is real, too. I’m plugged in and very comfortable at my current practice but I’m eyeing an opportunity…that will probably be a bit stressful but if I can land it, it will really put me on track to senior management down the road.

You never want to get too comfortable or complacent, but you also don’t want to chase titles just for the sake of the title.
BIG DRAWS GLOXy g'head girl!:salute:
