I indicated a billion times on here how I went through all crazy types of harrasment on my former IT job. Until one day, this married sister who use to chat with me in the gym, told me a way I could get an early retirement. It took a little longer than I planned, but it worked. I never had a chance to thank her. I only remember her by her first name, so I can't even look her up on facebook. She never expected me to move outta town though. That part of the plan, I came up with on my own. Anyway, that job nearly killed me with the stress alone.
A lot of you seem to have the skills to do your own business. If you ever go this route, no matter how good the money is, make sure you contiue paying into social security at the least. I don't have to tell you you need to invest into your rertirement as well.
I have, or after having a converation with him yesterday on the phone, that got a little tensed, I probably had this buddy, who's been doing his own carpentry work since he was in his early twenties. Now he's a master carpenter, and he can get jobs easily just off of reputation...and he never went to school. Anyway, being on drugs off and on in his earlier days, he didn't necessarily hang out with people who had much going on. And although he finally put away enough money to get a nice big home, which shocked everybody, he didn't put away anything for retirement, nor did he pay into Social Security (SS). Therefore, he doesn't have enough credits to qualify for SS...I'm not sure if he have any credits. He was very hard headed, and still is. But at least he doeesn't have to work for anybody anymore, and he doesn't have to work year-around. But the kind of work he does, isn't for anyone his age, even if it's only seasonal.
In other words. he told me he'll have to work until he drops. He already complains about the body aches, and the sore back...and this is during the off part of the seasons. Anyway, I gave him a suggestion yesterday, and he qualifies for the program. I hope it works, or else he'll be in his mid 80's before paying off that big house. I hope he downsizes before he lets that happen. But right now, he needs to retire, and just be active.
Anyway, making all that good money when you're young, whether it's a white collar or blue collar job, don't mean nothing when you get to retirement age, and you start feeling aches, and you didn't at least pay into Social Security. I'd rather live in a room, have health insurance, and be able to live off of a SS check, especially along with a pension, than to live like him right about now. I hope one of those plans work out for him.
