As an old head, I will just say that I completely disagree with the OP ans will say what Kendrick and his team is doing is damn epic whether we all recognize it or not. Not just hip-hop epic, but epic in the scope of modern popular music. As much as I love hip-hop I would put very few hip-hop acts on the plane of quality and craftsmanship that he is on right now. Not calling these the greatest songs or him the greatest rapper, but its like we've had a lot of regular cars with occassional Corvettes and rarely some Porsche 911s. But I feel like Kendrick is hand building Rolls Royces or Bugattis or something right now. You may not like those cars personally, but there is a recognition of a hand-built, hand crafted car that may be the finest in the world.

Kendrick Lamar is the 1st rapper where ive felt that im being forced to like. The machine behind him is so obvious. He has some cool songs and has blown me away lyrically at times but overall he's just...boring. He has literally been FORCED into our conciousness. Overly Dedicated & Section 80 was ok. (Ill be lying if i said the beats wasn't the best part to me). Money Trees, Sing About Me and Real are pretty much the only songs i listen to off G.K.M.C. And i haven't even had a desire to even listen to his latest album. I may never listen to it. Honestly, i just dont feel like his popularity is genuine. Personally i prefer Wale over K.L anyday. But at the end of the day, atleast something other than ignorance is getting mainstream shine so i :salute:to that
well put :ehh:

Love the post. But the downside to the bolded is that him being selected by the powers that be does the following:
It makes him king of the "conscious rappers" based off the belief that he's the most successful, but he's ONLY successful because it's being forced. Now young rappers whom dont want to spit that ignorant shyt, will look to him as someone to be like, but look at what he really is. He's EXACTLY WHAT THE OP depicted him to be.
(I like some of Kendrick's songs, but it feels like he's just reading a phrase book or black political terms and throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks

"We hate the po po"
"Alls my life I had to fight"
"Black power forever"
"We not gonna take this no more"
"I'm 100% Negu"
"I'm Kunta Kente")

So now he's raising up a new softer faux conscious mc that spits weak that is not a threat to white supremacy in any form shape or fashion and corny negros will get behind this weak shyt, simply cause it's an alternative to blatant ignorant shyt.
But it's all bullshyt.
Master p spit more meaningful shyt than kendrick, which is very ironic

too arrogant for me

It's one thing to think you are the shyt but another to think you are some kind of prophet
do nikkas even pay attention to lyrics these days? :what:

throughout the whole thing hes.dealing with his own insecurities and failures. Brehs can't properly comprehend music and make dumb statements like this :skip:

you can't have a platinum album and the most anticipated album of 2015 based off a bandwagon

It is good. One of the most truthful and articulate assessments of Kendrick. Same gullible people whom believe in kendrick, probably think gay marriage is about equality.
Or maybe we just simply like and appreciate music he drops :what:

Ya problem is y'all are so caught up in hyperbole and the opinions of other grown adults to the point it dictates your irrational view in music.

Nobody forces you to listen to Kendrick. But these people who claim they hate Kendrick keeps talking about him. To me that's a hater with a agenda. They thrive and thirst for him to fail. :stopitslime:
