The fact people look to an artist/musician/rapper to be the voice of an entire movement and follow it blindlessly says a lot about hip hop/rap fans in general

Cant knock Kendrick's hustle tho. He knows what hes doing and he knows its working

He loves the attention

The irony, clown. What's going to be your next "I have to get on (insert popular rapper on the coli that I know will get me attention)" thread? Stop deflecting. We want receipts, b!tch.

I'm not feeling his vibe

I posted this in another thread. Kendrick a good artist, don't get me wrong. IMO his song "Ignorance is Bliss" is a Top 20 song of this decade

Honestly, I feel To Pimp a Butterly is psuedo political, and the embodiment of mediocrity

I like some of Kendrick's songs, but it feels like he's just reading a phrase book or black political terms and throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks

"We hate the po po"
"Alls my life I had to fight"
"Black power forever"
"We not gonna take this no more"
"I'm 100% Negu"
"I'm Kunta Kente"

Just seems like he's creating a patchwork book of ideas he thinks it's cool, but doesn't really feel it himself

Especially since D'Angelo used the exact same concept on his album, with better execution

Lupe may show his intelligence on front street, but I feel that his songs are actually him. Like he lives and breathes what he raps about, whether you agree with him or not. J-Cole also. That new Vince Staples album feels more authentic. Kendrick just sounds like he listened to a Public enemy album last summer and thought he should make an album about it
:yeshrug:

But the beat of this "Alright" song is fire though :ehh:
You posted the exact same thing in the Kendrick Alright Video verbatim and now you want to make a thread about it :camby:

Yo man, I can respect that. We all hear what we hear and if there's somethin off about Kendrick to you then it is what it is. However, I disagree with you. When Kendrick first came out as Kdot I'd agree because he was a Lil Wayne/Jay Z biter who didn't sound authentic at all. Once he dropped all that and became Kendrick his shyt has sounded 100% authentic to my ears, and I believe he truly is trying to push Hip Hop further. I mean just look at TPAB.....He could've just came out with another banger like "Swimming Pools" and made some generic sounding shyt to sell more records, but instead, he took a chance on making a Jazz/Soul/Funk + Hip Hop album.

I honestly feel like he's a true standout artist in a sea of mediocrity, but it's all apples & oranges so...:manny:
