Police: FSU QB Deondre Francois no longer being investigated in domestic dispute case

Police: FSU QB Deondre Francois no longer being investigated in domestic dispute case
Francois was the Seminoles' starting quarterback before missing most of last season with a knee injury

Update: Per the Orlando Sentinel, Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois is no longer being investigated for his role in a domestic dispute on Tuesday. Due to conflicting statements, the officer was unable to establish probable cause, so no charges have been filed on the incident.

Original story

Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois is being investigated in a domestic violence incident, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. The alleged incident is said to have taken place on Tuesday evening.

"Multiple sources have confirmed that Tallahassee Police responded to an apartment complex in reference to a domestic battery involving Francois at about 12:35 a.m.," according to the report. "Additionally, police call notes show officers responded to a domestic incident at the same time."

Details of what happened are limited and conflicting in nature. A police report states that Francois, who made the call to local police, and his girlfriend were at Francois' place of residence. Francois states that the woman began breaking items and tried to pull a TV off the wall. In an effort to stop her, Francois grabbed the woman and tried to carry her out of the apartment. Francois says the woman cut her arm and ripped her shirt during this altercation and that she threatened to call the police for domestic violence.

The woman, 23-year-old Diamond Lindsey, claimed that Francois became upset after a man tried to talk to her, picked her up and threw her to the ground, resulting in the cut on her arm. She also claimed to be nine weeks pregnant with Francois' child. She told authorities that she didn't want to press charges against Francois or for him to get into "trouble trouble," but that she wanted to scare him.

No arrests have been made in connection to the alleged act due to "conflicting statements and lack of independent witnesses," though a friend of Francois, FSU running back Zaquandre White, corroborated many details of his account. The case is currently being left open.

Florida State has not yet issued a statement on the matter.

Francois was Florida State's starting quarterback in 2016 and the start of the 2017 season. However, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Seminoles' opener against Alabama. The 2016 ACC Rookie of the Year was replaced by James Blackman, but was on track to come back fully healthy in time to compete for the job again in 2018.

I'm convinced most of the fanbase would lose their shyt if #12 won the QB job this year. I don't know what it is, but judging by the reaction this morning, dude has severely fallen outta favor with a lot of fans. I saw more sympathy for De'Andre Johnson when his shyt happened than I did for #12 this morning.

I saw the same thing... But speaking about me personally I just think about him from a QB situation. He's a young kid and young kids will go through/be tied up in this type of shyt, so I don't hold that over him. It'll be wrong to give the benefit of doubt and waiting until the facts come out to jameis and not deiondre.
I honestly feel that Blackman gives the team a better chance to win NOW. I like the kid, think he's tough as hell and can play. But leadership wise...ehhhhh. Taggart said one thing he looks for in a qb is leadership so,

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
FSU's offseason workouts are 'a lot more intense'

Florida State's workouts so far this offseason have been described as "a lot more intense" from the previous regime.

The Seminoles are expected to implement an up-tempo offense under new coach Willie Taggart, and conditioning will be key to properly executing the scheme. According to returning starter and rising senior running back Jacques Patrick, the workouts have been consistently rigorous, with strength and conditioning coaches maximizing their allotted time with players.

“It’s a lot more intense. Our new strength coach, it’s two hours of full work," Patrick said in an interview with ESPN Tallahassee's Front Row 'Noles. "When I say two hours, there’s not a minute that goes by when you’re not working. That’s the biggest thing. It’s intense. I think guys like that because it’s going to make us better in the long run. He’s pushing us through limits that we haven’t seen before.”

Last year, FSU outscored opponents 195-133 in the first half (+62), although that dipped in the second half as FSU outscored opponents 167-143 (+24) after halftime.

I think I could’ve made it through Vic’s workouts. :wow:

This past season was the worst recipe you could imagine. Not only was FSU losing, they were looking downright bummy at times. Add in Jimbo not making an effort on the trail and then bouncing. No way a 5* with every option available will sign up for that level of uncertainty unless they really just love FSU. I'm actually excited about this class. I think it will surprise people when its said and done. It also has a high possibility of being a huge whiff if we get close but not chosen by the kids we're all in on like Foster and Harrison. Lot of mystery and excitement going into signing day.

Well when you have the worst season in the history of the program with one of the most talented teams in the country and your coaches dip, this is what you get.

Still, we can finish in the mid-teens if everything goes as expected on NSD. What Taggart has been able to do with this class is amazing.

We finna hit nikkas in the head next year tho. '19 class no worse than top 5.
