Yeah Hall was never coming. Tre'Shaun, Warren, and Antoine Green would leave me smiling.

BTW,and I'm not just saying this cause he spurned us, but McDonald looks every bit as good as a WR as Hall does based on film.

It wouldn't surprise me if Hall falling off was a by-product of McDonald turning up.

Thompson, Harrison, Foster are my only true wants in this class. Anything else is just a cherry on top. If FSU can knock it outta the park next weekend with Harrison and Foster on their OV's, then I'm cool. Briggs seems like a likely steal since he's been quoted as saying he was about to commit to FSU before Jimbo bounced and wearing all Nole gear on the plane ride home from the Opening. Miami's depth chart might be too tempting to pass up, but I think FSU has a strong shot with him. Has anyone confirmed if Joshua Moore made it to Tally? Heard he's one of those "believe it when I see it" type cats when it comes to visits. He's been scheduled numerous times to come down, but flaked each time and ain't been since Junior Day.

The way Xavier is out here flirting with everyone let's me know his commitment to UK isn't that strong. I think FSU pulls him. If FSU can close with the 3 Armwood kids, Harrison, Foster, (I think Green is all UNC), and Xavier.....kudos to this staff.

Source: Xavier Peters expected to flip to Florida State
Big news for Florida State fans.

A source has informed Noles247 that four-star linebacker Xavier Peters has flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Florida State while on his official visit to FSU this weekend.

We are still awaiting public comment from Peters and will speak to him once his visit conludes. Peters is also being heavily recruited by Florida and Miami. It’s unclear right now if he’ll still take his official visit to UF next weekend.

Check back with Noles247 for more on Peters and the other official visitors on campus this weekend.

Peters confirmed with Noles247 that he indeed did flip his commitment today.

“I committed. What really made me go here is that I always loved Florida State as a kid. I realized as soon as I first got here, this is my home," Peters said. "Coach Woodie and Coach T have been recruiting me since they were at Oregon. They're bringing me in to play defensive end and outside linebacker. It's just a dream come true, it makes you cry."

This was Peters first time on FSU's campus and the visit to Tallahassee sealed it for him.

“Seeing that stadium, the press box, the statues, all these people that made history here. You don’t see this on all the campuses. Just the campus and the culture was amazing." he said.

The Florida State coaching staff plans to use Peters as a defensive end or pass rushing outside linebacker.

Rome (GA) three-star defensive tackle/end Jamarcus Chatman didn’t have an offer from FSU until Willie Taggartarrived. For the last month and a half the coaching staff has been building a relationship with him and over the weekend he made his first visit to Florida State.

“The main part of the visit that was important to me was the academics. I got to go into the broadcast room and see how they do what they do, see how they edit and talk to one of the main guys. It was something I really want to do. I also love the coaching staff and what they got going on.,” Chatman said.

The campus layout stood out to Chatman.

“I liked how the stadium and everything is connected. I’ve never seen that before. I like all the people here,” he said.

What was Chatman’s impression of FSU after his first visit?

“I love FSU. I really love it. I don’t have a leader, but I could see myself playing here,” he said.

While on the visit Chatman spent time with the coaching staff.

“I mainly connected with coach Taggart and coach Haggins. They like me everywhere on the D-line. They like me as strong side defensive end and defensive tackle.”

UNC, Virginia Tech and Miami are the primary teams in his recruitment. Chatman will visit Miami next weekend before announcing his decision on Signing Day.

Florida State lands four-star DE Xavier Peters
Wayne E McGahee III, Democrat staff writerPublished 11:38 a.m. ET Jan. 28, 2018 | Updated 1:15 p.m. ET Jan. 28, 2018

Florida State has flipped four-star defensive end Xavier Peters from Kentucky.

"What really made me go here is that I really loved Florida State as a kid," Peters said.

"I realized when I first got here that this was my home. Coach Woodie and coach T have been recruiting me since Oregon so bringing it to FSU is like whoa."

He also had a family member who really wanted him to play at FSU.

"My uncle Craig, he was in the military, has always been an FSU fan," Peters said.

"When he passed away he told my dad to make sure that one of his nephews and nieces go to FSU. It's just a dream come true really... I just know he's dancing right now."

Peters was not recruited under the previous staff, but linebacker coach Raymond Woodie targeted the 6-foot-4, 246 pound defensive as soon as he joined Willie Taggart's new staff.

He is being recruited to play defensive end at FSU with a chance to play linebacker.

He made his first visit to Tallahassee this weekend for an official visit and it blew him away.

"Seeing that stadium, seeing that press box, seeing all these statues of people who had made history here, you don't see this everyday," Peters said.

"You don't see that on every campus."

Peters caught the attention of coach Taggart at Oregon, but when Peters dominated the Under Armour All-American game, a FSU legend went to bat for him

"What really made them get out was when Deion (Sanders) hit up coach Taggart after the Under Armour game as told him, 'you've got to get this kid,'" Peters said.

"The main thing I was thinking about is that Deion don't do that with everybody so getting that information from him was a blessing."

Peters, a West Chester, Ohio native, is rated as the No. 12 linebacker and the No. 173 overall player according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

He is the 13th commitment for FSU in the 2018 class and the second linebacker commit joining four-star Amari Gainer, who is already enrolled. He is the seventh Top-300 commitment for the Seminoles.

With his commitment, FSU moves up to No. 18 in the 247Sports composite team rankings with the lowest number of commitments of any team ranked inside the Top-25.

Peters had 50 tackles in seven games this season.

Deion out here doing work

After FSU official, Briggs set to make immediate decision
Dennis Briggs is on the verge of a decision after his official visit.

Kissimmee (Fla.) Gateway four-star defensive lineman Dennis Briggs entered his official visit to Florida State with a decision to make between the Seminoles and the Miami Hurricanes.

He is now on the verge of making that decision.

"It went great. Had a fun weekend. Loved the whole coaching staff. Every individual is a good person. Just overall the visit went great," Briggs said.

Briggs was immediately asked after that comment if he committed while on the visit.

"I'll be making an announcement this week," Briggs said, adding that an edit is being made now.

Briggs added that he has 'everything he needs to know' now about his main two suitors, the Seminoles and Hurricanes.

As for his official visit, Briggs went in-depth on his weekend in Tallahassee.

He explained his comfort with the FSU staff.

"The comfort is just that me and Coach Taggart had a relationship in the past from when he was at USF and then Oregon. Meeting him for the first time, hanging out with him for the weekend, it raised the comfort level a lot that I previously had with him. So I am real comfortable. He is a real cool dude, intellectual and everything," Briggs said.

"It was basically the whole defensive staff," Briggs added on who else he dealt with. "[Defensive tackles] Coach Odell [Haggins], [defensive ends] Coach [Mark] Snyder, [linebacker] Coach [Raymond] Woodie and [defensive coordinator] Coach [Harlon] Barnett."

As for what position Briggs would fill if he opts for the Seminoles, the 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive lineman explained what he heard from the staff.

"Really just going to use me at the boundary end. The big end. So I am going to be on that side. We are going to go more in-depth on it [during my in-home visit], but they are going to use me at boundary end.

"They were talking to us about it, right now they only have three defensive ends, four," Briggs added. "So they really need ends."

Briggs added that the staff emphasized that they needed big, boundary defensive ends, because the ones they currently have on the roster fit the field ends role moreso than boundary.

"They are really hurting for that," Briggs added.

With FSU focusing on Briggs as a potential defensive end, it was important for him to spend more time with new defensive ends coach Mark Snyder. Snyder visited Briggs this past week at his school and spoke more with him during the weekend visit.

"My first impression when he came to my school was that he was a little quiet, but you know he was really cool to talk to and everything. We hit it off the first time. I didn't get any bad impressions from him. Just real chill, he is not really a talkative one," Briggs said.

Briggs said this weekend was about building a relationship with Snyder and that the two parties each learned more about one another.

Most of all though, Briggs admits that something just feels right when he is on campus in Tallahassee.

"I've always had that home feeling with FSU every time I've come here," Briggs said. "It is still the same. I still get chills. Like when we were walking through the stadium Friday night, it is just crazy with the music playing and everything."

FSU is set to do an in-home visit with Briggs this week, likely early in the week, which will include head coach Willie Taggart.

Briggs was hosted on the official visit by Brian Burns. He was accompanied by his parents and his cousin.

Miami leads on the 247Sports.com Crystal Ball, but recent picks are all for the Seminoles.

Briggs is ranked as the No. 25 defensive tackle in the nation.

Goss reviews his FSU official visit
Offensive tackle Jalen Goss recaps his weekend official visit to Florida State.

Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes three-star offensive tackle Jalen Goss committed to Florida State a little over a week ago.

This weekend the 6-foot-7, 270-pound lineman took his official visit.

"Everything went good. It was a great weekend. We had a lot of fun. Seen a lot of things," Goss said. "Everybody enjoyed it, all the recruits, all the players, coaches, families."

The weekend afforded Goss a chance to spend a lot of time with offensive line coach Greg Frey and others. He shared what he learned about the offense.

"It is going to be a fast-paced offense," Goss said. "I'm ready to come in and play in something like it. See how we are going to do this season."

Frey also had a direct message for Goss.

"Since I am committed, I'm on the clock now," Goss said. "Time to get better and prepare for my future of just being a college athlete. He gave me the plans of what I have to do.

"He is real cool. He is chilled, laid-back. I can deal with that. But he also knows when to get his work done," Goss added. "He is a great guy. Real friendly. Great coach."

Goss shared what ultimately led to his decision and why FSU felt like home.

"The atmosphere," Goss said. "Just being real with the players. It is a family down here. When you were with the coaches, you weren't just around your position coach, you were around all of the coaches."

Goss was hosted on his official visit by fullback Gabe Nabers, a fellow Lowndes product. Nabers gave Goss advice on life when he arrives at FSU and what to do to prepare.

He is ranked as the No. 57 offensive tackle in the nation by the 247Sports.com Composite.

Where things stand: Florida State's offensive recruiting
Chris Nee Nole 24/7

With just over a week remaining before National Signing Day, the final stretch run for Florida State is coming into focus.

Here is a look at where things stand for the Seminoles on offense:

The focus at quarterback remains squarely on one target and one target alone - Montgomery (Ala.) Lanier four-star dual-threat quarterback James Foster.

Foster has taken officials to LSU, Alabama and Texas A&M this month. Next up, during the final weekend, is a trip to Tallahassee to check out Florida State. Foster was heavily recruited by the previous regime at FSU and that has carried over to Willie Taggart and his staff. Entering the visit, FSU sits in a good spot to attempt to secure one of the nation’s best uncommitted signal callers. The Seminoles will also be making an in-home visit with Foster before he makes his way to Tallahassee.

At running back, options appear to have dwindled down the stretch, especially with Rockledge (Fla.) four-star running backJashaun Corbin eliminating the Seminoles from contention. It isn’t a great need for the Seminoles, with the return of Jacques Patrick and a talented running back room already.

But Florida State does have a few targets still on the board at the running back position, namely three-star Tennessee commitment Anthony Grant of Buford (Ga.). North Carolina, who has recently hosted Grant for both an official and an unofficial visit, appears to be the top contender to flip his pledge. Virginia Tech is also in the mix. FSU is relatively new to his recruitment, offering on Jan. 19th, but they hope to get their shot at him this upcoming weekend.

Another name to know is Cedar Hill (Texas) Trinity Christian four-star running back Maurice Washington. The Florida State staff dropped in on Washington, who has close ties to FSU legend Deion Sanders. But they have yet to go all-in on pursuing the dynamic playmaker. Arizona State hosted him earlier this month. Nebraska is expected to host him this upcoming weekend. The Sun Devils are trending with him. We will continue to monitor if the Seminoles make any kind of push for Washington and try to bring him in for an official.

An addition at running back is not a necessity for this class.

What is a necessity? Adding talent and multiple bodies at the deathly thin wide receiver position. For as talented and crowded as the running back room is, FSU lacks multiple established receivers currently on campus and their overall depth is lacking.

Florida State is trying to fix that issue through recruiting. Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland three-star wide receiver D'Marcus Adams is solid to the Seminoles.

The top targets after him are Seattle (Wash.) Garfield four-star athlete Tre'Shaun Harrison and Seffner (Fla.) Armwood four-star wide receiver Warren Thompson.

Harrison, who is set to officially visit Florida State this upcoming weekend, is also looking at Oregon, Tennessee and Utah. All three of those schools have already hosted Harrison. The Seminoles feel good about their positioning with him entering the visit.

On Thompson, his official visits appear to be concluded. Thompson saw Florida State in mid-December and then checked out Tennessee and South Carolina in January. Those are his three finalists. The former Oregon pledge has a lot of ties to Willie Taggart and already told him ‘Yes’ once before, when he was in Eugene.
With Yoakum (Texas) four-star wide receiver Joshua Moore pulling a no-show this past weekend for his scheduled Florida State visit and Rockledge (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Antoine Green returning to North Carolina, his favorite, for an unofficial visit this past weekend, the staff has moved on and is focusing on a few other targets to potentially help refill the cupboard at the position. On Sunday evening, multiple members of the staff checked on Pensacola (Fla.) Escambia four-star wide receiver Jacob Copeland and Pensacola (Fla.) West Florida Tech wide receiver Keyshawn Helton.

Copeland has taken officials to Alabama, Tennessee and Texas A&M. He is set to see Florida this upcoming weekend. A fifth visit could be taken as a mid-week trip or in some other fashion, but as of Monday morning nothing has been locked in. Alabama had trended for Copeland, but now the Gators have the momentum. Some believe the Vols are worth keeping an eye on due to Copeland’s relationship with head coach Jeremy Pruitt, who was his primary recruiter for the Crimson Tide.
While Copeland is a familiar name on the recruiting scene, Helton is not. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound wide receiver has seen some increased interest in January with Florida State and Tennessee being two big schools to check on him. USF hosted him earlier this month for an official. FSU will host him this upcoming weekend. An offer from the Seminoles would likely lead to a pledge.
One other receiver name that remains a target is Tennessee commit Jordan Young. The Conyers (Ga.) Heritage three-star wide receiver had a meteoric rise in early January, but the Volunteeers got him to quickly shut down his recruitment. FSU is still working with hopes of hosting him this upcoming weekend. A visit from the staff is a possibility this week.
Florida State appears to be satisfied with their commitments at tight end and offensive line. As of today, we don’t expect any additional targets or commitments at those two spots.
