:hhh:
Actually having the nba broadcasting and continually pumping George Floyd and BLM in your face nightly would actually be far more effective at this point than ....the world taking notice that Kyrie irving isn’t playing basketball:stopitslime:.......when Trayvon got clipped the NBA moved that movement forward more than anyone else BY ACTUALLY AIRING GAMES AND MESSAGES DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE ISSUE.......

The players staying home moves the needle 0% .....cuz if these guys aren’t balling their significance of where they stand looses potency......we need african American stars on tv to move the needle in a way only they can, in front of world wide audiences.......

Kyrie graduated from Duke, no offense (I hope) but I highly doubt the next brain savvy enough to lead black peoples from their situation will be from there.....because what Kyrie is saying is the EXACT OPPOSITE of having an impact.......
Yea players wearing i can't breathe shirts or whatever mickey mouse milquetoast shyt you can think of isnt moving the needle like a boycott.

These players have the power to make their message a god damn world event if they wanted to. They can stop the world any time they want to. Have you heard of "The Decision"? Bron, Kawhi, Steph, etc can have the world tune in to a televised event specifically for social change on any network, backed by nike, under armor, coke pepsi, all the fukking companies they endorse for. This bozo argument of "bbbut the nba games can be the biggest platform" is weak.

IMO...
If they're going this route...they need to get the NFL brehs on their side. No matter what football is king.
NBA season disappears then people will just simply move onto the NFL. You'll have those who say they've been without basketball for almost a year so they found they can do without.

Dont wanna be like baseball like after the lockout season where people just tuned out.

Thats the thing not only that you have the face of the league and the most marketable player who is an agng star.

The league hasn't proven it can be carried by someone else if they lose this year and possibly 2021. Now your most known player and face of the league is 37. Also other star players are now a year or 2 older. Which is a concern for players who are in there 30s or have health issues lioe leonard.

This is a league that has always been carried by one or two generation superstar players or the Lakers and Celtics. Nothing in between.

So it is far easier for the league to take a fall. The NBA does not have the history and calender season context that baseball does. It doesn't have the ingrained culture of football from school level and from a gambling standpoint.

Not playing can have some serious longterm consequences to the league and all the black players and coaches involved.

As I said before coming back in 2021 doesn't mean folks gonna start back watching like nothing happened.

No it’s not...because THEIR PLATFORM IS WEAK right now without the league....

boycotting a 90% african American League does what exactly....

Are people sitting at home thinking about the significance of no basketball on Thursday nights and correlating that too George Floyd.....HELL NAH

the league is still shut down for corona(that’s why people will think they aren’t playing)....coming out and saying “we’re going to stay shut and at home for George Floyd” is ridiculous and makes no sense.... especially when most of America has resumed(certainly will have been by Jul 31)....we HAD a societal blackout day, every league and about all of society had made a formal statement about intended changes, so the League resting seems too late and frankly opportunistic........

the question is what is more effective...players sitting at home tweeting about George Floyd continuously for the next month or actually having cameras rolling in real time to capture what ever feeling and emotion is there.....cuz ain’t many more protests for these athletes to attend......

I see you're back from yesterday after not answering my question about George Hill and Myles Turner. Here's a recap of what they've said and of others who have spoken up, cac:

George Hill
:
"We've been doing this for 400 years. It's been the same. So, for me, it just means more because you're supposed to look at those people as protectors, and you don't have that. You're supposed to look at all these situations as learning lessons, but you're like, 'When is learning enough? Like when is it enough? Like when are we going to be tired of this? How do we change the narrative?' So, for me, it's just tough.

No, I'm not going to shut up and dribble. I don't care if you take my contract, I don't care if you say that I'm this or that, I'm human. I have a heart. I have a pulse. I have emotions. I'm a man. I have kids. I'm a father. I have a wife. I have friends. I have loved ones. It means [something] to me. I'm not going to just shut up and dribble."

So, that's my last thought on my mind is basketball. I can care less what's going on. I think there's bigger issues and bigger things to tackle in life right now than a basketball game, but that's just my personal opinion."

Myles Turner

"I'm paid millions of dollars to go out there and perform at a high level so part of it's like, 'Man, you've got to suck it up and go out there and do what you're paid to do,' but the other part of it is like, 'Listen man this basketball s---, I love it, it's part of what makes me me, but it's not all of what makes me me, either,' and I have a responsibility as a young black professional athlete to advocate for this change."

Avery Bradley
, the Lakers guard, was the second person to speak on the call behind Irving and was vocal throughout, urging players to take a stand and utilize this moment to "play chess, not checkers."

Dwight Howard stressed to players that playing in Orlando will become a distraction from the issues the country is facing, and that they need to unify and use this moment to create a change.

Mitchell, Anthony and Howard all "expressed their desire not to play at this juncture."

CJ McCollum
also voted "no" on returning to play this season.

I already answered it

Is it about the bubble or civil rights? If it's solely about Civil Rights, why even mention anything as trivial as the bubble situation?:stopitslime:

Stay mad, cac.

....I see through your agenda filled posting:ufdup:

Craziest shyt is there's a huge contingent of posters on this board who hold Jordan being apolitical against him like he killed a newborn baby, god. He said he had a one track mind when he played and it was all about basketball.

you're mad jordan got dragged for not speaking on the black plight and in your mind, this is a chance for lebron to catch heat for wanting to play instead of cancelling the season to "protest":pachaha:

They are the league :dead: all of those corporate sponsorships and deals don't mean shyt without those individuals

all these t shirts and hashtags will never compare to an actual stoppage that could lead to others doing the same

I don't like how the media and some fans are tryna force certain agendas here. This is not about Lebron vs Kyrie or Kyrie being a nutcase. This is about Kyrie being a voice for the players that don't one. He isn't playing regardless so, If he was the only person that felt like this, then it wouldn't be a big deal.

Lol @ their platform is weak. Lebron can fart and it gets reported. He has the power with his own damn media platform. How many shows and movies has this man created and produced? How many hollywood contacts does he have? He can organize a telethon, a we are the world album, and a march, whatever the fukk you can think of for a month straight if he pleased with all of his brands supporting him. Yall say he's the most powerful athlete ever but then want him to shut up and dribble for some Cereal box championship ring.

The entire world is focused on America at this moment for this one issue. Companies have been coming out kissing black folks asses for the past 2 weeks. Politicians are looking to end Qualified Immunity for cops. No time is stronger than now for everyone.

Fam...it’s not a stoppage tho...because the leagues BEEN stopped.....

And most associate it with Corona....so now in a month and a half the league is gonna be able to reassert the reasoning for the NEW stoppage reasons (George Floyd) and make it stick heavy and resonate with viewers...nah

it will just be the nba didn’t finish the season due to corona to many.........it won’t be significant....

definitely not as significant as have ESPN TNT ETC and others pushing BLM every broadcast.....
