Nobody cares about these characters like that outside of the framework of the main movies...except for maybe Vader.

So they should either so a standalone Vader movie or bring him back in the main movies(clone him or have Kylo adopt the Vader mantle with his full outfit).

Why would a studio give marketing money to a movie that hasn't even been filmed yet? Say you give a movie 50M for the prod. budget and 100M for the marketing before the movie even starts filming. You do your in house screening with execs and find out that they movie is so you have to save it with reshoots that cost another 50M. You do another test screening, it's still pretty bad and can't be saved, but wait don't forget you're stuck with 100M in marketing money to use on a film that won't connect with audiences. You can't just take the 100M and spread it to another film at the studio so you're fukked.

This is why studios plan their marketing moves after the movie is completed, so you figure out if it's worth the money to market or not.

its crazy that they threw this shyt against Deadpool 2, a followup to arguably the first or second most critically liked movie not to come from marvel studios recently. shyt does nothing but hurt the sales of both parties involved. And everyone has basically marketed this as a quick watch that doesnt really mean too much. Ron Howard is competent for sure,but that's about it. He's a workman like point and shoot type director. He has no identity or style of his own. Which is Why they brought him in. Kasdan didn't want anything but what's on the page which is why it was dumb to hire Lord and miller in the first place.

Kathleen Kennedy problem so far is she keeps wanting to go after young directors that are on the way up but she doesn't want to let go of the leash and let them be themselves.

But still people want to see something more exciting from the series that frankly has been grossly outshined by its own video games out of all things for the pas decade and a half and for the most part it’s that sith/Jedi gameplay aspect that has kept them more entertaining.
