And what if it's a generation of family that doesn't know how to read or understand basic math and english grammar. Also, don't forget the fact that a lot of resources like libraries and other tutoring resources are being closed down or stripped away of resources themselves due to political reasons or don't even exist in poor neighborhoods.

You're proving my argument with your argument without even realizing it.

Where do you live? I ask this because here in Chicago we got a ton of libraries and tutoring places thats readily available in poor communities.. I know because I've raised three children and utilized a lot of them. My perspective is from where I live.. Maybe where you live is worse off and im being ignorant of that.

I grew up in Mississippi, so I can point you to the direction of those places and are considered some if not the poorest towns in the entire country.

The problem isn't as easy as you and other posters are making it sound. If other communities and races can ask for and receive assistance and resources, then why is it frowned up on our community?

Parents, or lack of, and culture is just about all. Now of course what lead to the culture and wack parenting is another story.

People focusing on the government makes me think of Kennedy and Dame Dash — the faster you realize that the government is not your daddy, the easier you’ll have to succeed in life. What the government does is give you the bare minimum, whether it’s a market socialist style Nordic country or eat what you kill US style.

People be like “what do the democrats do for black people”, rarely see Asians or latins ask that. Their job is to make sure that everyone is fairly treated, not be our daddy

School issues are also legislative issues because local governments allocate school budgets. Local elections and politics often have more impact than national politics.

Also, blue-collar workers in the hood create OOW kids too. It's not just "criminals and pookies". I know lots of baby daddies with decent jobs. I think a lot of y'all are white or grew up very sheltered.

Most folks pay taxes. Taxes pay for government and public school teachers.

Id start with both doing what the taxes pay for. Teachers are supposed to be trained to educate, do that. I expect the government to create a school system where every child isn’t lumped together, decent roads, hospitals, parks, and everything else taxes go to. All these should meet a certain level of quality. To me, both entities fail in quality, fund allocation, and adapting to modern times.

The rest is up to the individual/family unit.

We have to stop villainizing the poor and low-income for being where they're at in life financially. The hard truth many people in this society fail to understand or choose to ignore is that some people can't help being poor/low-income and due to many reasons, that's their ceiling, unfortunately, some improve their lives while others stay that way permanently no matter what, that's as far as they're going. They still deserve proper educational resources just like everybody else. Why do people scoff at helping the poor and low-income have a chance at being moderately successful in life but cheer and clap on for the already relatively successful middle-class and rich folks getting more or all of the benefits?

Yes, unfortunately, there are always going to be bad students coming from bad households affecting the classroom and sometimes dragging other students down with them but, with the right resources given to the schools, those kids acting up won't be a factor and maybe the teacher would be able to reach those bad students if they had the necessities.

Every kid isn't going to be “saved” and some will get left behind, sadly because of things at home,q However, there are plenty of students in the classroom who do want to learn and shouldn't be deprived because of a few students in the room coming from bad situations at home.
A lot of those poor people are putting no effort into improving their circumstances. That’s why.

A bad student can come from any socioeconomic background and race. However, in the black community, something as simple as using proper grammar can get you roasted. I know from personal experience.

I humbly apologize for holding Democrats accountable for not doing anything for black people. We havent done enough collectively to even begin to ask for tangibles and to question politicians apparently. Its gotta be the culture and the parenting. Politicians bare no responsibility, unless the home environments are in perfect order. If your failing in life, your parents didnt give a damn. Why should the Democrats:respect:?
i don’t think any of those quoted are saying black people shouldn’t hold the party we overwhelmingly support accountable. however, that’s just one piece of the puzzle to black empowerment; we need to hold ourselves accountable, too.

Some of the first things I can remember as a kid is playing with flash cards and playing memory with my mother. Before I went to kindergarten I knew how to read above my grade level .Before we had the actual memory game we used to take playing cards and use those to match pairs but its the same thing, I would put together puzzles, listen to book and tapes etc . I couldn't go outside until I did my homework after school , the boys club would make us all do homework for 1 hour after school before we could play and you couldn't come in if you didn't do any homework . It doesn't take a grip of money to do those kinds of things . My moms was 14 when she had me for reference I went to the pjs when I left the hospital as a baby father wasn't around . When I had my son I did these same kind of things with him and my mom still dose it will all my younger family members to this day . Your family can make a huge difference in you education if they are involved. Cant just put the kids on the bus in the morning and make a grilled cheese after school and call yourself a good parent .

I find it funny tho, ppl are so quick to blame the children, the parents, & teachers. If it were an individual responsiblity, wouldn't this be a call to serve in your communities instead of shytting on groups of ppl online? If you say individuals are heavily complicant, you have to be accountable for the state that things are in.

People be talking but aren't paying attention what happens at some of these education meetings. There are parents who push for their kids to get access to things, and yours to keep out.
