We really ranking Mosely over James Toney now in all time rankings. The same Toney who beat cats like Michael Nunn, Iran Barkely, Mike McCallum, Jirov etc... wow

same thing with Dela Hoya who lost most of his big fights. same thing with JMM
Sad shyt is Floyd beat them cats when they were older and in the later stages of their career. Roy beat Toney when he was atop of p4p lists and was in his physical prime. I don't get ya'll logic on this one.
This nikka said Shane Mosely :what:

You may disagree, but you'd be hard pressed to find a writers list with Toney over these dudes.

Mosley is one of the most spectacularly dominant 135 pounders ever. Dude was basically Mike Tyson at 135.

Well Oscar is Oscar. He has some great wins on his resume:manny:

He fought lightweight once when he got out of jail the went back to junior lightweight/ superfetherweight for his next 5 fights.

Aight my bad then. I could have sworn he stayed at 135, but now that I think about it the 1st Cassamayor fight was at 130. So there you go. Maybe it was just the whole upcoming jail stint that fukked him up but later on in his career we all can see that he didn't move up properly or stayed at certain weights too long because he couldn't even do 140 and had to got straight to 147 for Clottey.

But I still give Floyd his due for that win, just like I give Roy his due for his win over Toney.

Did you even read my post about the bolded?

Anyway...

Names?

Mosley
De La Hoya
JMM

All these dudes will probably be ranked over James Toney.

Roy fought a peak James Toney; Floyd fought these other cats past their prime.

I agree, but dude wasn't asking for context, especially regarding B.Hop. He wanted names that will go down as greater fighters.

If you want context, Floyd's overall resume of competition is much higher than Roy's.

breh, what the fukk is it with you insisting james fukking toney is some all time great boxer? get the fukk outta here with that nonsense. mosely was the 3rd ranked p4p fighter in the world going into his fight with floyd, no one was questioning him going into that fight. mosely was "past his prime" but was universally called the 3rd best p4p going into the floyd fight. :wtf:

Mosely was a beast at lightweight no doubt about it. He ran thru dudes there, but c'mon he didn't fight nobody of note there. His claim to fame is beating Oscar. He has some other big wins sprinkled in there (Margarito) but Toney got dude clearly when it comes to signature victories.

Oscar is known for big fights, not neccessarily big wins. He got Sweet Pea, Quartey, and Vargas fights (2 of those fights were close) and then a lot of wins over B-level nikkas and then he has lots of L's in them big fights. Although he Got robbed against Mosely in the 2nd fight and in the Tito fight.

You can make a case for Oscar, but Mosely and JMM nah I don't think so especially if we looking at when they fought Floyd.

JMM biggest acheivement is having close could go either way type fights with Manny.

like I said earlier, he fought a James Toney that lost 40 lbs in 6 weeks. That not Roy's fault, but it also wasnt a "peak" James Toney.

#1 welterweight too. Floyd makes him look like a bum, and everyone forgets those things.

Maybe Floyd should have fought someone like David Telesco or Richard Frazier.

I agree (not "much" higher though), but I'll take Roy's best over Floyd's best. Just as I would overall - I'll take Floyd's career but I'd take Roy's prime. Also, there's a chance Floyd falls off just as hard as Roy did so this will be a better discussion ten years from now.

he wont fall off like Roy did. Floyd can protect himself which Roy couldnt.

See it's this bullshyt right here.

Mosely was nowhere near a p4p list when Floyd fought him. Was he the man at 147? Yes he was, but nobody had him on a p4p list breh. You just reaching now.

When Oscar fought Shane the 1st time Shane was actually atop p4p lists but still behind Roy Jones.

I swear most of ya'll nikkas just started watching boxing.

You absolutly have to consider where dudes where at in the careers when they have these match ups. That's why I'm saying a win over a prime Toney is better than a win over a past it Oscar even though you may wanna argue if Oscar ranked higher than Toney all time. The scalp on his head wasn't the same value at the time as TOney's was.
C'mon people
