he already was outclassed by someone in the ring: jose luis castillo..he just received a gift that night

There should've been a rubbermatch to end the debate between these two...I guess the rematch left no doubt though :yeshrug:

i don't think people realize just how unbelievable roy jones was. he should have retired after the Ruiz fight, we'd be calling him "the greatest ever" right now.

He should of retired or at least fought Tarver at the CW limit and not sacrifice his body in the process trying to get back down in weight. Roy wanted to break that historic record being the first man in 106 years to become HW and then to recapture the LHW title.

If Roy retires after the first Tarver fight of after the Ruiz one he goes down as the easy best of his generation if not all-time.

Another Gold Medal
It was for me :to:

I was talking with my homeboy as the beat-down was commencing, had to tell em "Aye man...I gotta go, this is too depressing" :sadcam:

I know that feel breh. :to:

I will say this Shane showed his heart in that fight. I remember him getting hit with a HUGE uppercut that would have put anyone else to sleep. I was  when that landed.

Definitely top 10. The knockout exposed more about Roy's heart, mind, & confidence as a fighter than anything. People expect more in that department from the greats.

The Sweet Science
You guys are killing me acting like you couldn't imagine Floyd fighting Roy in the same weight class.. We know how both fighters fight.. They've fought the same way throughout their career and weight classes.... Are you implying that Roy wouldn't fight the unique style he's known for if he weighed 154lbs?? Would his speed be diminished at 154?? Would he not still have his amazing footwork at 154?? Will he lose the ability to not get hit at 154?? Then you have KO power.. With Roy's speed he'd definitely win in that department as well ..Hell Roy's fighting style would be PERFECT for Welter/Jr. Middleweight

You said Prime Mike I assumed you were talking Mike Tyson. If you meant to say Roy Jones instead than thats a more reasonable discussion. Roy is one of my favorite fighters of all time and I consider him to be one of the GOATS
but his speed strength and footwork looks even more dynamic because 85-95% of his competition was legit trash.

Also Floyd does not fight the same way as a welter/light middle as he did as a lightweight/lightwelter.

This is an example of the higher standards Floyd has versus everyone else. A very close fight that many feel could have gone either way equals "Floyd was outclassed."

You can't make it up, no other fighter has standards like this which has to mean he is the best of the last few decades.

The same argument can be made for Pacquiao, when Floyd stans come up with every single excuse to discredit all his wins since he stepped on the scene

You see it, even after Floyd BEAT Castillo in a rematch to erase all doubts people still refuse to give him props.

How he stayed upright after that, I do not know. I remember in one of the rounds when he got caught by a body shot and you heard him scream........so vulgar
