I didn't even bother to read the thread but......:childplease:

at anybody who thinks Floyd ranks higher than Roy on an all time list. I already know nikkas prolly said it so I'm addressing it right here.

Roy beat 2 All time greats and 1st ballot HOF in Hopkins and Toney while they were in their primes. He clowned them too.

Floyd beat a lot of HOF's, but he hasn't beaten any all time greats. That's why so many cats say he needs to fight and beat Manny because that's the only dude whose an all time great right now that is in the same weight class.

Yeah Roy fought his fair share of scrubs, but damn so does everybody. Dude remained at the top for like 10 years. Dude was bound to get old and that weight loss in the 2nd Tarver fight just put the icing on the cake. You can't praise Floyd's record and then shyt on Roy Jones record. That's like shytting on Jordan to hype up Kobe.
Roy has boxing skills, it's just that it was unorthodox so it would work for him and him alone. Just because nobody else can do it doesn't mean it didn't take skills to do it. shyt, cats praise Hopkins for being so skilled but dude is just a dirty ass crafty fighter. His skills ain't all that. He fought a lot of bums and smaller dudes too. When Hopkins started fighting cats his size and with some speed he struggles like hell. Everybody's career pans out differently. Roy had about the best prime you could ask for from a fighter.

:skip: It definitely is defense, just not in the traditional sense..

Whats random about what I said ??

I'm pretty sure you dont know what you're talking about

His legs, as opposed to Mayweather's upper body, were HIS defense. During his prime, I cannot name a single occasion where I saw Jones hit clean, let alone hurt, whereas Floyd Mayweather has been hit clean and hurt on numerous occasions during his best years Castillo, Corley and Mosley etc...

Thats like saying Antonio Margarito's chin was his defense...and youre really debating DEFENSE!!? Floyd Mayweather? :snoop:

Even Sweet Pea got hit..but guess what..ITS BOXING! People get hit..and ask Roy if Tarver hit him clean :skip:

just letting you brehs know that Roy is fighting this coming Saturday

Article Link - Roy Jones: I Don't Care Who I Fight, Even Andrew Golota!
This is a legal waiver. By copying and using the material from this article, you agree to give full credit to BoxingScene.com or provide a link to the original article.

Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. (55-8, 40KOs) could care less about Saturday's opponent at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland. As BoxingScene.com/Bokser.org reported last week, the scheduled opponent Dawid Kostecki (39-1, 25 KOs) was arrested for being the ringleader of a criminal organization. Jones will now likely face light heavyweight contender Pawel Glazewski (17-0, 4 KOs). But the American veteran is willing to fight any live body that is placed in front of him this weekend.

Glazewski, who was already in shape, accepted the fight and starting working out a strategy days ago. In a show of good will, Jones plans to visit Kostecki in jail.

"When I agreed to fly to Poland and fight, I was serious. It does not matter whether the opponent is Glażewski, Kostecki, or even Andrew Golota. I'm coming out to the ring to fight and win. I had no hesitation about participating in this event. Kostecki is the main reason why I flew to Poland. He found himself in trouble and it wouldn't be right to turn our backs on him. I realize that staying in jail is a hard thing, but to fight with Roy Jones is an even bigger nightmare," Jones said.

The nikka was not weight drained.. Stop recreating history....

James Toney my nikka but Roy woulda beat that ass at lightheavy too

He was weight drained, but that's not Roy's fault:manny:

Fat nikka should have been in shape & ready for the fight. But it's well known he was weight drained and not at his best. But he's not beating Roy regardless, I agree.

Real shyt. That weight loss hurt Roy for the 1st Tarver fight. But Roy was in great shape for the 2nd fight. Roy looked great in there and was going in on Tarver. He tried to Montell Griffin Tarver and got caught slippin. Roy was still prime in that fight. It's the knockout that really ruined dude more than anything.

If he doesn't get caught, he probably runs through Tarver, but I guess that's why Roy didn't fight like that often.

One thing no one talks about when it comes to Roy Jones downfall is the punishment he took from Ruiz in that fight. Roy didnt block every single punch that Johnny Boy threw. Some of them shyts landed and u can't tell me that didn't affect Roy as well as losing the weight to fight Tarver.

Aight for the nikkas who saying Toney was weight drained for the fight. That's not Roy's fault. James was the favorite and the fight was talked up for some time. He knew the stakes.

Now let's keep it 100. Corales was weight drained and had to go to the jail for like a year for beating his wife after the fight when his fight with Money was coming up. He wanted to move up to 135 but Floyd insisted that it be at 130. I'm not saying Floyd wouldn't of won. He got the style to whup Corrales, but if cats wanna taint the Roy victory over Toney, then the same applies to Corrales/Floyd. Now even if you don't fault either. The Toney victory is wayyyy bigger than the Corrales victory. Corrales is a very good fighter and HOF, but Toney is a great fighter was held higher up in the sport.

nikkas wanna discredit the Hopkins victory too. :snoop:

Hopkins was the same type of fighter he was when Roy sonned him, that he is now. He was just more ring active as far as throwing punches. He didn't get better. Hopkins was always a grinder/pressure/boxer hybrid. If he's not quicker or can't overpower you he can't really get into his rythymm so he'll end up looking bad/fighting not to lose. He showed the same vulnerabilities against Roy that he showed against anybody whose aggressive with quick hands (Taylor, Calzaghe, Dawson) He's still an all time great though

For dudes saying Floyd ranks higher than Roy all time, what 2 names on his record or better than Hopkins and Toney?
