So the hold up with Sony letting Marvel use Spider Man is Edwardo? :mindblown:

It's been a minute(or a whole lot of minutes) since I've read the comics but I was referring to the films. After 5 movies they could at least let him go to college. I know ASM was a reboot but the constant high school thing is a bit harder to accept in movies as opposed to comic books.

I think that will be something that carries over to the movies though. I'd hope not though. I think if they constantly keep him in his early to mid 20s that could work because I do agree that Peter shouldn't age in the sense of getting gray hair or something like that. If/when Marvel gets him back, I say they should just make him a freshman or sophomore in college and go from there but it wouldn't surprise me if that directive in the comics is the same for the movies breh.

That would be dope although the Russo's handling it would be dope too. And I feel some of the brehs when they say that other heroes are more popular than spider-man now but then when you look at that graphic from a couple months ago about how much money he makes for Marvel through licensing and products, not to mention little kids aren't critics? C'mon man snap out that dream. I seen a little kid on the subway the other day wearing a full on spider-man hoodie, not giving a damn what a bunch of grown men think of a character and a movie he likes. My niece is 5 going on 6 and she loved both of the Amazing spider-man flicks and loves the character. She could give a flying fukk

I liked it, but what most people would say is a "mediocre" Spider-Man movie at best still made 700Ms. Just wait till he's got Marvel's creative control and that Avengers stimulus package :wow:

I liked it too but I also understand that it was rejected in general so I gotta bow to the reality of the situation. Sony doesn't know what to do with him at this moment; they had a plan, that plan didn't work which is causing them to try to throw stuff to the wall but in reality, I think it's just time for someone new with new ideas. Avi Arad has been in charge of the character on tv and film for 20 years since the animated series on Fox and even then, it was a constant struggle between him and creative. He's the guy who wants to sell toys and move product while the creative guys want to tell a good story. When he isn't hands on, like spectacular spider-man, you get good results. I liken it to a football or basketball team with the same coach for a decade. The guy has talent, he didn't forget how to coach, but sometimes you just need a new voice in the locker room and a new philosophy to jumpstart the team.

It would be cool to see him in the avengers but I don't want to see all these characters popping up in his movies. Spidey is a loner

Gotta cosign this to a point. Even tho I feel the new spider man movies have been decent it sucks that spider man who's been such a huge character for us growing up in the 90's has basically taken a backseat to guys like Iron Man and Captain America just because he's not part of the MCU. To a lesser extent X-Men too even tho DoFP was crack and Apocalypse looks promising. But the point is that compared to Spider Man, Iron Man wasnt even on the radar growing up and look at em now :mjcry:
Im gonna have to disagree.

Yes hes not part of mcu, but both asm movies made over 700 million each. Thats well ahead of like half the mcu films.

As well, spidey comics are still among the best selling and his merchandise is number one selling.

Spidey isnt taking a backseat to anyone just because some mcu stans are bitter he isnt in the mcu. And to be real, the bitter ones complaining dont even seem like spidey fans they just want to cool and ride the mcu hype train where marvel= a gift from god and fox and sony are worse than hitler.

That's what I'm saying. Gotta remember that kids don't care about half the stuff we care about. I mentioned my niece earlier and all she cares about is how cool spider man is and the stuff he does. She's not looking for anything deeper than that

Exactly.

And on top of that, people are acting like the movies are universally hated. They arent.

The way some people talk youd think the movies are at 0% on rotten tomatoes and metacritic.

I forget that the coli is where the ASM stans come to hide. Virtually everyone i meet online/offline think these new Spiderman fans are lame, especially the last one. I personally think the last was was much better than the first ASM but people generally think ASM2 was trash, except the coli :russ:
