My uncle always says this but I could never understand what he meant. I never read the comics (because it dont read any comics. More of an anime guy).

What about Tobey was off. I loved Spider 1 and 2. Thought both were great all the way around. What about Tobey rubbed ppl the wrong way?:sadcam:

It starts with the personality. Peter is a nerd, yes we all know that but he's got a certain thing about him, a charisma and energy that Tobey didn't have. There'a s sense of humor the character has that he totally whiffed on and a self confidence that Peter developed that his Peter never did. He stayed the same character wise for three movies. He never once seemed like he had any situation in hand or that he understood what he was doing. He played Peter like the stereotypical nerd/geek and that's not who Peter is or was once the comics became modern. And when they did give him a little confidence, they equated it to arrogance and him getting too big for his britches as opposed to it being key to the character. His Peter could barely interact in social situations without tripping over himself or crying or looking like he was about to cry.

Andrew as Peter or Childish as Miles are the only two good spidey's I can see.

I don't get the hate for Garfield as Peter/Spidey. It was that same dikkhead, cocky, let me psyche the villain out by undermining him intellectually that I fell in love with as a kid.

The movies may not have been all that but I honestly think the casting was one of the things they actually got right. (not that I think the movies were wack. they weren't classics but I enjoyed them very much for what they were)

J.K. Simmons was born to play Jameson though.
