No matter how mad EA and Garbagevision are, they aren't that dumb to throw that PS4 install base in the bushes. EA already does online passes for their games , so they at least get something in return. COD goes diamond every release, so the used game market aint hurting them for that shyt.

We'll probably see online passes for every game going forward though.

And EA/Sony's relationship is good. They want to be like like Activision/MS.

I still do find it VERY hard to believe that MS is doing this. If Sony doesn't and MS does, they will hand the states damn near back to Sony in one swoop. The suits at MS can't be that dumb...they just can't. There's still time to change their mind hopefully.

The install base of the PS4 is ZERO.

Im just saying it makes no sense for MS to do this unless they know something we dont right now.

EA and Sony were already VERY buddy buddy with the PS1. And EA Sports didn't care of the likes of NBA 2K and NFL 2K either.

Square was buddy buddy with Nintendo......EA was buddy buddy with Sega.......things can change in a hurry.

I never really thought about it. PC games don't really have a used market now that I think more about it.... :ohhh:
used pc games have been dead since the 90's. The advantage we have is that our systems are considered opened compared to consoles. We have several marketplaces to compete for our money...thats the biggest hurdle you guys are facing.

Always on Internet-Connection is somewhat required for steam, but you can pick offline mode for an extended period of time if you need it. I assume that the 720 and PS4 will offer the same thing.

I definitely agree there, but EA and Activision are not dropping the PS4. They already got Dev kits and are confirmed and working on games fam.

you know guys are already trying to get the scoop on things from Sony's end. The used market is illegal in Japan (didn't know), but that shyt aint flying in the states. It's legal in the EU to sell used games and they wont' allow that bullshyt with blocking them. They will take MS to court and will win. They stay shyttin on MS tactics over there with their Windows products.

That's probably why the pirating community is so large. If Microsoft and Sony to through with this, it might be my first time moding a console

But MMOs require PC cats to stay online to play, so that helps the piracy there.

Even if a game ships with a one time activation code per user on the new Xbox as the article says, you should be able to still "activate" the game on other consoles in the house, but only one can play online unless you turn on the account that first went online with the game on the the other consoles in the house.

You'd probably have to buy another "activation" code to play on another console in your home with a different Live account.

I can see that shyt happening. It's essentially an online pass of sorts for every game and you would need to buy additional activation codes to play the games on other accounts in your home.

Square goes with the most powerful system. Not payola. No heavy weight Japanese dev is going exclusive for a western company. You cant be serious.

Comprehension fail. :snoop:

I didnt say anything about Square going exclusive for a western developer. Rekka was pointing out that EA was buddy buddy with Sony in the past so they wont throw that relationship aside for a new buddy. I just gave him 2 examples where that did happen due to the current situation not aligning with their own goals. Square didnt want to fukk with those cartridges so they left Nintendo, and EA didnt like NFL 2K so they dropped Sega. This used game situation COULD do the same thing with any one of the big publishers. Before Square left Nintendo nobody thought that relationship would go bad, NOBODY. So miss me with that whole "that would never happen with insert random developer" spill.

As much as I back up Microsoft when it comes to Xbox...fukk them and Sony. Sure my dumb ass is still gonna buy both consoles eventually, but probably not until after these companies realize they've fukked up and be forced to have a drastic price drop
